Dumbstruck, Naois just stared at his wife, then slowly shook his head. "No, I had not realised that," he answered honestly, "they were minor and I had classed them as part of training as often the cadet gets stunned too. In this particular program, that is rather the idea, though nobody is supposed to get hurt."
He wrapped his arms around her, a little tighter than was usual for a brief moment. "I shall attempt to pay closer attention to my own health," he promised immediately, feeling a little guilty for causing her distress. He knew how much she hated hearing what dangerous activities he had engaged in.
"Now, I suggest you get changed, so we can visit the starbase," he added, rising back to his feet, "I would like to show you my new office as well. And after that perhaps we could visit the holodeck, together. You shall of course choose the program." He smiled gently, lovingly down at her, caressing her cheek.
"You do know that you are the best that has ever happened to me, right?" he asked innocently as he pulled her in for another kiss. Then he gave her a light shove back to the bedroom. "I shall wait here," he offered.

Sharon was a mix of emotions but seemed Quinn made his decision to leave the ship, obviously her feelings did not matter one iota to him, although it might have to do with revenge, revenge on those that hurt him.
After Sharon had advised Commander Corval of what she had found out, Sharon left the bridge and took the lift, she was deep in thought and hurt as well over this but she would get over it, she picked a deck and got off and found herself where the science labs were located. She took a walk down the corridor and found Tak at work in the lab, she considered him a friend and decided to talk to him.
She walked in, his ears perked up as he turned. "Hello Tak, its been awhile since we last talked, I just need someone to talk to right now."
Sharon hoped he wasn't to busy, he reminded her of her cat that was probably sleeping on her bed right now keeping her spot warm for when she called it a night tonight.

K'Nara turned on her heel and stormed over to the door after the marine. She then barged past the human once through the ready room door, determined to ensure she knew just how angry she was that she had gone over her head. Jane felt her breath get knocked out of her as she collided with solid Klingon.
A glint of sliver caught K'Nara's eye upon turning to glare at the women once more. Closer investigation revealed a very familiar looking dagger for some reason tucked into the marines belt.
"You know as dishonorable as it is to go over someones head without saying a word to them first, keeping and not returning a weapon such as that without winning it in battle takes dishonor to new bounds," she hissed. As much as Horn irritated the hell out of her, she knew full well there was no way the human would be permitted to keep the weapon after leaving the holodec without besting him in battle. Which indicated that something dirty had gone on.
"Marine, you will return that dagger to Mr Horn. Thats an order," she snapped. The death look she leveled at the human was enough to make her wisely hand it over and secondly dare not start anything on the bridge.
Speaking again, K'Nara snapped at Peter. "Mr Horn, DO NOT lose that again. I need to have complete confidence in my security staff and where would we be if the CSO was loosing weapons on a regular basis?"
The fact she did not give him chance to respond even if he dared in her particular temper, was a testament to how wound up the Klingon was. Her head snapped back to the marine again as she had just thought of her punishment. Normally she would allow a settling in period but as the women had done what she had done . . . . . .
"You will have a demonstration of your marines abilities ready in holodec 3 for 15:30. I need to have complete confidence in your staff too," she growled. "And I warn you I have trained many in the Klingon secret service, Klingon defence corps and on this ship." She shot Horn a look. "I am not easy to impress."
K'Nara stormed out of the bridge back to security to tie up the final paperwork on Sheena's transfer, leaving a stunned Jane to realise she had less than 2 hours to put together something spectacular, on her first day no less.
<Jane>
A little while later . . . . .
K'Nara headed back from main security even more annoyed to discover Peter Horn had not reported that the Young Trill brother of her CEO had been involved in an incident with a Klingon wanting to give her something to her, she briskly walked down the cooridoor towards holodec 3, when she ran into Tak Science and Sharon Wolf.
She invited the other 2 senior staff to come view the demonstration with her.

Peter quietly resheathed his precious dagger while muttering a 'yes ma'am' to K'Nara. He was surprised not to receive a ranting like the young marine was getting, but he wasn't going to comment on it. The Klingon seemed to be in a murderous mood and he didn't want to be the subject of her wrath yet again.
Thus, he said nothing and just watched her leave, before returning his attention back to his console. There was still the matter of young Tay disobeying his orders and something had to be done about the boy. He was posing an increasing security risk by now and he needed to learn that disobedience wasn't to go unpunished.
After making sure that Sheena Evans was securely transferred to Resurrection, at long last, Peter tapped in a few commands on his console. "Computer, transport Tay Hannez to the brig and activate a level two forcefield at the entrance of the cell." He wanted the boy frightened, not hurt after all.
That done, he tapped his combadge. "Commander D'BrooNi, meet me at holding cell one in fifteen minutes." Not acknowledging the response, the Vulcan marched into the turbolift, ignoring the marine who seemed to want to have a go at him ever so briefly.
Once he arrived at the cell, he saw Tay sitting huddled in a corner, his spots standing out against his pale skin. "Mr Hannez, I assured you that if you would disobey me, there would be consequences. Surely you remember me assuring you of such?" he spoke as sternly as possible, standing before the forcefield with his hands clasped behind his back. He looked down on the boy for a long moment.
"Get up," he then ordered, "get up and face me like a man." The boy had wanted to learn, then he also had to learn to act the person he expected himself to be and be treated as such. "What do you have to say for yourself? You have gravely disappointed me, and I can no longer trust you to obey me."
He turned his back on the boy, briefly closing his eyes as he was still a little dizzy from the forced mind meld on Sheena. Taking a deep breath, he turned back. "Consider yourself to be put on house arrest," he added, just as Melanie walked in. "Your brother will be confined here for a few hours, to let him reconsider his actions. He could have gotten himself hurt, or killed. I will personally release him and return him to your residence when his time is up. I have to go and take my wife and daughter home."

Post by Mel D'BrooNi on Jul 23, 2008 22:11:53 GMT
JP between Peter and Mel
Mel looked on in horror as her brother shivered in the corner. "Oh no," she yelled. Jogging up to Peter. "No no. Hes just a little boy and believe me mum and I have already said plenty."
"That is beside the point," Peter answered calmly, "how often have you 'said plenty' to him by now, and how often since then has he disobeyed?"
Mel felt her arms sag in frustration. "I know. But its just his age. A year or so it works it out of Trills systems. We are not like vulcans. Okay so you never have to worry about Seleya or Lilah behaving this way, but its just nature and Im not standing by and letting you leave him alone and scared in there."
"My daughters are not the issue at present, I shall worry when the time comes. However your brother needs to understand that he cannot go exploring this vessel and cannot go into restricted areas. As talking to him has failed, I deemed it necessary to cause him enough of a fright to make him pause and think. He will remain where he is for the designated time. The forcefield in place is level two and will not hurt him."
"I DON'T CARE," Mel bellowed. "He is six years old and he spoke to a klingon, egged on by another child. He's finding his identity and struggling with all the inquisitive stuff maybe but you don't put a child in the brig for speaking to an alien. Maybe you should talk to him, he was just trying to fit in."
"He should not have left his quarters, as he has been told not to do by several people, yourself included. His inquisitive nature is what keeps getting him into trouble, and he is compromising ship's security. For now, he stays," Peter replied stiffly, though his attention was now on something Melanie had said. "Spoke to which Klingon?"
He looked down at Tay, who sat in the corner, experiencing a twang of guilt but he couldn't back down now.
"He was on route back from school with another child who dared him to speak to a male Klingon they saw in the cooridoor. Should not the other kid be in there too?" Mel demanded. "Should you not get all the facts before doing this?" She was far more emotional than her friend had ever seen her.
"Ian has a knife. The klingon wanted him to give the knife to the XO?"
Peter sighed, not quite understanding why his Trill friend was reacting this way. To him, his actions were perfectly logical. "He was not to divert from his course between home and school," he pointed out. "The other child has not been in trouble, Tay has a track record of being disobedient, you cannot deny that. I have not received any reports from Ian regarding a Klingon knife or a request for the first officer to receive it. However, Ian should know that he should report this to me and indeed, present the knife to Commander Corval."
"Tay's presenting that knife to K'Nara," Mel informed him eyes blazing. "He's learning that he has to see things through when he agrees to do something no matter how stupid it is. And Ian is working on his report now. Im sorry that after spending hours ensuring the safety of your children he wanted a brief amount of time with me. And track records, do we really want to get into that?" she demanded.
Mel didn't care anymore that Peter was a superior officer. Everyone had done stupid things in their time.
"He should have reported the incident immediately, so that I could deal with it," Peter shot back, turning his back on the forcefield so Tay wouldn't have to see his anger. "I am grateful for his involvement in saving my daughters, but he is my assistant first and foremost. Surely you can understand the importance of ship security. If there are Klingons handing dangerous weapons to children, I need to be informed immediately. Now, who was this Klingon."
"You were just reunited with your family. Ian was giving you some time with them before dumping another thing on you," Mel argued back deciding she had already started this, she may as well go the whole hog. "And the Klingon as far as I know works on the starbase or did. Ian's already spoken with someone and hes pulled a disappearing act. Now if your not going to let him out, you let me in and I will serve his punnishment with him. Im not leaving a frightened 6 year old alone in the brig."
"I had not intended to leave during the time alloted," Peter informed her, a little insulted that she would think he'd leave a child behind. "I would have remained within line of sight so he could talk to me. You may not enter, I will return him in an hour."
"Then I am staying here," Melanie yelled at him. Leaning against the wall. She was furious. At Peter, at Tay, at K'Nara, at the mystery Klingon. Even the Bajoran kid.
You will not," Peter answered coldly.
"Then you will have to physically evict me. And I will just return if you do, and keep doing so until you are forced to throw me in with him," Mel answered back just as coldly.
Eyes narrowing, Peter considered her words for a moment, then bodily picked her up and slung her over his shoulders, depositing her just outside the holding cell area. He glared at her, daring her to try and get past him. "He needs to be alone to reconsider his actions," he snapped, on the verge of losing his precious, just barely regained, emotional restraint. "He cannot do that if you are present, hovering protectively over him, in hysterics. He needs to talk to me, on his own, and he will. You will return to Ian, and inform him to give the knife to K'Nara, as Tay was instructed to do."
"In hysterics, hysterics," Mel's voice rose to an uncomfortable level for the Vulcan. "How hysterical were you when your family were threatened. Thats how Im seeing this. There is a better way. This is too extreme," she demanded. "I'm walking back in there. So you have a choice. You can let me or you can finally go back to Harley and tell her you manhandled her friend and threw a 6 year old in the brig. As I promise you I will keep trying until you have knock me out or neck pinch me or something. Thats the only other conclusion thats coming from this."
"As you wish," Peter acknowledged, physically barring her way. "Harley would see the logic of my actions, and would support me. As I just stated, my order stands. Tay remains in the cell with me present to watch over him, and you shall return to your duties. Please note that I shall not hesitate to incapacitate you, even though I do consider you my friend. Ship security comes first."
Mel pushed and pushed the solid vulcanoid and finally made a noise in frustration simular to something Peter had once heard utter from K'Nara's mouth. Standing tall for a moment, she took a deep breath and promptly kneed Peter Horn hard in the groin. "No family comes first," she hissed at him as he fell to his knees. Mel entered the brig once more, knowing pretty much she would be unconscious next time round.
Peter doubled over in agony, then fell to his knees, his vision turned grey. After a few seconds he regained his bearings and slowly rose to his feet, eyes blazing in uncontrolled fury. He walked up to her, though his steps were unsteady and reached up for her shoulder. It was unfortunate that Jane had not returned his phaser as well, it would've been simpler and less painful. "it is unfortunate that your brother has to witness this," he murmured as his fingers clamped down around the Trill's shoulder, trying to find the exact spot to apply pressure and render her briefly unconscious.
Mel swirled round and did a move Pete vagually remembered Ian executing earlier. "Oh no you don't. "
He caught her arm, then glanced sideways at Tay. "You are in trouble," he informed the boy, "hence you are in a cell. You have disobeyed me and I am very disappointed."
"Yeah well," Mel spat her voice rising higher again. "He's disappointed me too. And so have you."
The pitch of her voice was hurting his ears, but he didn't flinch much. "For that, I apologise, however you must let me do this my way, or he shall never learn. Please, return to your quarters. I had sent your mother a message that this was about to happen." He released her arm and took a step back, a painful expression still masking his face.
"I do not agree with how you are teaching him a lesson," Mel hissed.
She turned around and offered her shoulder to him. "Just do it. Im not leaving."
"Computer, transport Commander Melanie D'BrooNi to engineering," Peter spoke quietly, adding his authorisation code. "Rescind Commander D'Brooni's security overrides until further notice."
Mel glared at him. "And thats not honorable."
He shrugged as the transporter beam claimed her, then turned to face Tay. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
"That I know my sister quite well and your really going to be in the doghouse now," Tay informed him. "But you really could have talked to me before deciding this. I'm disappointed in you too."
Crossing his arms over his chest, Peter stared down at the boy. "You gave me your word you would stay out of trouble, and you also gave me your word that you would obey me. You have wilfully disobeyed me." He hadn't the faintest idea what a doghouse was, but he refrained from asking. "You are a child," he added, "a troublesome child at that. You would not have listenend." He wondered why he was arguing with a child, but at least it was giving him some insight into the boy's actions. "Tell me about the challenge you entered, and tell me why you took the dare, when you knew it would land you into trouble with me."
"Because," Tay laid his head back on the wall. "I would have been labeled a coward. And your not a coward so you can't understand. Everyones mad at me all the time or telling me what to do and I just couldn't cope with everyone at school being at me too. I know your a vulcan and that doesn't make sense. But Mel understood it."

Peter frowned, not quite understanding what the child was getting at. "You are not a coward, just a troublesome child," he answered, his tone milder now. "And I have been a coward in the past too, I may not show it but I too get scared," he confided to the child.
"I wasn't scared," Tay said frustratedly. "I wanted to fit in. To have friends."
"And you change your behaviour to make friends? Then they are not your friends, as friends take you as you are." The Vulcan signaled a second guard to re-establish the forcefield after he had entered the cell, then deactivated it to step in. He sat down on the cot then motioned for the child to join him. "Why do you want to fit in?"
"Why don't you?" Tay countered.
~good point~ the Vulcan thought as he considered the question. "I do not," he finally answered, "I am not purebred, therefor people will always think of me differently, expect me to behave a certain way because I am different. I do not try to fit in by altering behaviour that is natural to me."
"I wanted people at School to talk to me," Tay answered. "My mums the teacher, Im the only male Trill on the ship and get teased about having something inside me when I don't yet and the only friend I have near my age is your daugher who's not even in my class," Tay said.
Peter nodded in understanding. "Then get them to talk to you as you are," he suggested, "for the behaviour you display now only gets you into trouble and you will be known as a troublemaker. I am certain that would cause you more grief than you desire eventually. Instead of taking the teasing as such, perhaps treat it as them being ignorant and inquisitive. Explain to them what it is to be Trill, I am certain your mother and sister would be able to assist. Additionally, you could perhaps write an essay on the subject for your writing class?"
"Possibly. But I really don't think my sister or mothers going to be in any mood to help me for abit. Mel especially after what you just did," he said in awe. "I don't think she will be speaking to you for awhile. I mean she was only trying to protect me." There was a brief silence. "Its a good job you don't care that much about friends and fitting in."
"She will," he assured him, "and I do care about having friends, as long as they take me for who I am. And that does land me in trouble too." Again the tone of confidence and for the first time, a slight hint of a smile. "However I do try to keep out of trouble, as you should do too. This was just the drop that tipped the proverbial bucket and I needed you to understand you did something wrong, for earlier attempts to make you understand obviously have failed. And if Melanie was angry enough to hurt me, I believe that also proved my point."
"I'll try to stay out of trouble," Tay promised. "But Mel's right I have to see it through and give that dagger to K'Nara. No matter how scary she is."
"Not without adult supervision," Peter warned sternly. Then he did offer a smile. "And K'Nara can be scary, I agree with you. Would it help if you knew that she even scares me? If she wanted to, she could kill me by using just one hand. She nearly did, in fact, a long time ago."
"Ermm," Tay said meekly. "Would you come with me?"
"Are you certain that you would not prefer Ian Brooks?" Peter raised an eyebrow in mock surprise. "Earlier you told me you were disappointed in me, how has your opinion changed so quickly? Melanie deemed my actions dishonourable."
"I'm disappointed you put me in here first before talking to me. You can make it up to me by going to see K'Nara with me," Tay said. "And yeah I kinda agree with Mel. She knew she wouldn't win and offered you her shoulder to do the vulcan neck thing. If you had done that and knocked her unconscious you would have won and she not lost to much face. Teleporting her to engineering was just sneaky. I mean would you do that to a Klingon?"
"Nerve pinch," he corrected softly, "and I did not understand her motive for doing that. I believed she was giving me what Humans call a 'cold shoulder'." He paused for a few seconds, considering the second question. "Transporting her to engineering was a last resort," he acknowledged, "and being sneaky comes from my Romulan side."
He gave a single nod as acknowledgement of the last statement. "And yes I would do it to a Klingon too, and face the consequences." Peter cast the boy a thoughtful look. "I would not be surprised if she came running back in here any minute now." He sighed. "I will accompany you to K'Nara, when your hour is up. The punishment stands, however I did promise that I would remain here."
The brig doors opened straight after Peter made that statement. Both males looked towards it wide eyed, Mel stood with her hands on her hips. "I will be stood outside and the minute his time is up we young man are having words. And you," she pointed at Peter. "You, if you ever pull that again . . . . well I haven't figured out what I will do yet but rest assured I will tap into every memory of Leiko and if you think hes a troublesome trill, you have a lot to learn." She turned on her heel and stormed out again.
b]"Like sister, like brother," Peter sighed as he rose to his feet, signaling the second guard to let him out. "I will speak with her, meanwhile you remain here and think your actions over." He walked out side and faced the angry Trill engineer. "You will not have words with him," he answered, "and he will think twice before doing such a thing again. We...talked."
"You may be able to order me about in starfleet, but you cannot tell me what to do in my personal life," Mel stated incredibly calmly as opposed to what she had been earlier. "When I say I will have words with my brother, I will have words with my brother. And good, maybe next time you might think too talk to him before throwing him in the brig."
"It may have the opposite effect. I believe I have been able to talk sense into him.....for now. And the brig is the most quiet and efficient location to quietly talk to a child, and I did warn your mother beforehand. She knew I was going to do this and I knew it would scare Tay, which was the intent. There are twenty minutes left to his confinement, I will personally return him home, after which we are going to see K'Nara."
"Well he better come back in one piece," Mel told him darkly. "And rest assured I'm having words with my mother too." She turned her back on him and walked away. This time Peter did get the cold shoulder.
"Women," Peter muttered under his breath as he walked back in, taking a seat opposite of the cell, within Tay's line of sight. "What did you consider?" he asked, wondering if Tay learned anything at all.
"Talking to strangers and unknown aliens is wrong. Disobeying you is wrong. I have to apologise to several people," he said. "And the brig is cold."
"Talking to strangers is also dangerous, trust me," Peter answered with a smile, "and the cold helps clear the mind. It does help me when I have to spend time in there. You should only apologise to your mother and sister, for they went through great anxiety for you." He released the forcefield, fifteen minutes shy of the original 'sentence'. "We shall go see your mother and then K'Nara now."

"No, I had not realized that. They were minor and I had classed them as part of training as often the cadet gets stunned too. In this particular program, that is rather the idea, though nobody is supposed to get hurt,” Naois replied before holding her tightly. Hugging him back, Valeia felt herself relaxing. He was here, well and safe now, and at least he didn’t just dismiss her concerns. The fact that he never belittled her for worrying and actually took what she said seriously was something the doctor greatly appreciated about her husband, and it did help her.
"I shall attempt to pay closer attention to my own health," the counselor promised sincerely, causing to Valeia to relax even further. As much as she did tend to worry when they were apart, as long as he was by her side, she felt safe and was rarely concerned about anything. Her previous worry from their time apart did tend to linger somewhat, but Naois was able to put her at ease in such a short time that it quickly became a distant memory. He was so good to her like that…
“Thank you,” Doctor Mercy replied quietly, snuggling closer to him and holding him closer sighing contentedly. It was difficult to imagine her life without him in it.
"Now, I suggest you get changed, so we can visit the starbase," Naois added, changing the subject. "I would like to show you my new office as well. And after that perhaps we could visit the holodeck, together. You shall of course choose the program," he offered graciously, smiling down at her and tracing her face.
Smiling back, Valeia positively beamed up at him. “That sounds wonderful. I’ll go get changed right now so we can leave. I would very much like to see your office. Since you spend so much time there, it’s about time I spent a little bit of time there too…maybe make a nice new memory for you to think about when you’re working too hard…” she added innocently, batting her eyelashes at him a bit. "You do know that you are the best that has ever happened to me, right?" Naois asked just as innocently, pulling her in for another kiss.
She responded with a light laugh, and kissed him back. “Oh, I know,” she teased back, before becoming a bit more serious and adding, “And you’re the best thing that’s happened to me too. I honestly don’t know what I ever did without you.”
The doctor leaned in for another kiss, which he returned before giving her an gentle shove back towards the bedroom. "I shall wait here," he offered.
Laughing again, Valeia drifted into the bedroom calling back over her shoulder. “You’d better. You get caught peeking you’ll be in so much trouble... Then you know perfectly well we may never get to the starbase, at least not for awhile.”
Opening her closet and surveying the clothes inside, Valeia proceeded with the required few minutes of debate before finally settling on a medium violet dress with wide straps that ended just above her knees. It was casual enough to wear around base but looked nice enough to wear to dinner, at least she thought so.
Twenty minutes later, and Valeia was finally ready, dress on, make up done, hair pinned back on one side, and earrings, necklace and shoes selected and put on. After one last look in the mirror above the dresser, the Betazoid was satisfied enough with her reflection to join her husband in the living room. “Ok, I’m ready,” she announced as she crossed the threshold, smiling happily at Naois.

Post by Jane Davison on Jul 27, 2008 11:28:41 GMT
Jane was momentarily stunned at the fact she had very little time to prepare her marines for a demonstration, she smiled at the First officer hiding her feeling of caution and said. “I am sure you will be more than pleased by their performance Ma’am.”
Jane left the bridge and made her way to holodeck 3 arriving there she pressed her comm. Badge and said in a firm crisp voice. “All Marines report to holodeck three on the double.” Jane waited as the marines entered one by one. When Jane was sure they had all arrived she walked in front of them and said. “Ok marines the first officer has asked to see a demonstration of our abilities we have two hours to prepare.” Jane looked over their faces as waves of doubt and worry washed over them.
Jane straightened her back as she looked at them with nothing but authority in her face and said. “Wipe those looks of defeat of your faces men we are marines she wants a demonstration then that is what we are going to give her.” There was twelve marines the highest ranked was sergeant, Jane pulled him aside and asked “What’s your name sergeant?” the marine jumped to attention as he responded. ‘Masters, James Ma’am.” Jane walked around him as she continued to ask. “What training programs are the men used to?”
James remained at attention his back as straight as an arrow; he was only about twenty five years old and had that look of innocence that Jane had lost so many years ago. “The usual battle simulations Ma’am.” Jane let out a small sigh simple battle simulations were not going to impress anyone. Jane stopped pacing and looked James in the face as she asked. “How much hand to hand combat experience have you and your men had?” James didn’t move an inch as he was being stared down by Jane he simply replied. “A fair amount Lieutenant.” Jane nodded in approval as she formulated a plan in her head.
Jane turned to the rest of her marines and said loudly. “Ok men we are going to show the first officer your hand to hand combat techniques, I know you may be a bit rusty but lucky for you i have won several awards for my abilities in that field.”
Jane activated the holodeck controls and gave each of her marines an opponent to face in combat she watched for about ten minutes before yelling at the top of her lungs. “Good now let me show you how it should be done.” All of her marines walked to the side of the holodeck and Jane walked into the middle. She called up a holographic opponent she had asked for a Klingon male who looking at him must have be about a foot taller than Jane. Jane took a step back and dropped into her preferred combat stance. The Klingon came at her with a heavy right handed swing; Jane ducked just in time to let the massive arm swing harmlessly over her head.
Jane moved forward fast and hard hitting the Klingon in the stomach with her right shoulder. Jane did not weigh a whole lot but the sheer force of the blow caused the Klingon to stumble backwards giving Jane the upper hand in the fight she moved her fist straight up and hit the burly Klingon straight in the jaw, his head whipped back at the blow.
Jane leaped at him again making them both fall to the ground, Jane was ready for the fall and she rolled to her side and got up one her knees. She then jumped up onto her feet before the Klingon had a chance to even get up on his knees, as he stood up Jane gave him a swift kick to the side of the head, the Klingon fell to the floor again and Jane decided to end it she quickly moved behind the Klingon grabbed his head and quickly twisted as hard as she could, She heard the snap and the Klingon vanished. She stood up and looked at her marines before she said. “If you can help it don’t give your opponent a chance to get a hit in, if you have to fight dirty I don’t care if you kill with honour if you ask me I would prefer to live dishonourably than die honourably.”
Jane watched her Marines practice for a further hour and a half before the first officer entered with two other officers. Jane stood at attention and yelled. “Stand at attention marines.” Her marines lined up and Jane stood in front of them and looked at the first officer and said. “We are ready if you are Commander.”

Peter took the boy by the hand, a little firmer than he actually realised and started guiding him back to his mother's quarters. He made a point of ignoring Melanie as they walked out of the brig, not even making note of whether she was still there or not. "Lieutenant Brooks, please report to the Hannez quarters," he called as they walked, at the boy's slower pace. "Bring the Klingon weapon that young Tay has given you."
=^= Acknowledged commander =^= the assistant chief replied.
The Vulcan looked sideways at the boy, noting he was unusually quiet. "I will remain with you," he tried to reassure the boy, "you must explain to Commander Corval who gave the dagger to you, and why you accepted it. Be sure to leave nothing out."
He fell silent for a long moment, considering that K'Nara might actually hurt the child and promised himself he'd not let that happen. After a short turbolift ride and a walk, they finally reached the boy's home. "Good afternoon Mrs Hannez," Peter greeted casually but politely, "I have come to return your son to you. However I shall require his attendance a little longer as he has a task to complete."
Just at that moment, Ian walked in with the dagger, a questioning look on his face. "Thank you Ian," Peter acknowledged, accepting the dagger from him. "Please find Melanie and treat her a strong drink. I fear she may require calming down."
Examining the dagger for a brief moment, he then handed it back to Tay. "Treat it with reverence and care," he instructed, "use both hands to present it to K'Nara, stating who said you should give it to her." He looked up at the mother. "I will take care of him," he promised, "he will be returned home safe, I will make certain of that."
With that, the two headed out again. "Computer, locate Commander Corval."
=^= Commander Corval is in holodeck two =^=
"Then that is where we shall go," Peter acknowledged to himself more than to the boy. A scant minute later, they entered holodeck two. "Commander Corval, a minute of your time please," Peter called, drawing her attention. "I have someone here who wishes to present something to you."
He nudged Tay forward though he stayed in close proximity, though far enough away for him to appear courageous and doing this on his own. "Go on," he encouraged with a nod.

“We are ready if you are Commander.”
K'Nara, Tak and Sharon walked in and took a seat. She nodded at Jane. "Impress me marine."
<Jane>
Some of the men clearly needed some more training. Some of them, as much as she hated to admit it were quite passable. The fact the human had managed to pull something fairly worthy off in the time she had demanded both annoyed and impressed the Klingon.
The look of the other two officers faces peaked K'Nara's curiousity. She would discuss their opinions over a strong drink after they were done here she decided.
Part way through the next exercise K'Nara sensed two others approach them. Immediatly she was stood up ready to defend herself. To her disappointment, (drawing her into the demonstration really would have earned the Marine some points in her book) it turned out to be Peter Horn.
"Commander Corval, a minute of your time please," Peter called, drawing her attention. "I have someone here who wishes to present something to you."
"What," she demanded wondering why on Kronos he would pick right now to interupt her. She also wondered briefly why he was walking funny. Her normal scowl next, betrayed her further confusion as Melanies younger brother came into view.
"Go on," he encouraged the young Trill. He raised his hands, lowering his head, to scared to look at her as he held up a dagger. Gently taking out of his hand, K'nara took one look at it and Peter Horn was hit with the strongest outburst of emotions he had ever felt from the Klingon. Hurt, Anger, confusion all in one.
In what seemed like an eternity she finally said, amazingly in a calm voice. "Marine's. I have seen enough. You pass. Mr Horn, Tay, Outside please."
Tay reached for Horns hand again as they followed her out. Horn could sense that confusion and sadness was more prodominent from the Klingon right now.
"This should not exist. Where did you get this?" she demanded.

Peter gently squeezed Tay's hand, sensing the boy was scared. "If I may," he offered, meeting the Klingon's eyes. "The boy received this from a Klingon male earlier today, after taking a dare from his classmates. He was told to offer this to you, but it was not explained why."
"What Klingon?" K'Nara demanded though in her heart she knew she was not going to get an answer.
Tay looked up, his face paler than usual and described the Klingon to her. In turn, Peter frowned. "I do not recognise the description," he added thoughtfully, "though I could run a security check to see if we have him in our database?"
"You do not recognise him as when you were in his presence your heart was intent on . . . . . ." K'Nara snapped but the look on the child’s face made her stop. "You were busy, on the star base. He was part of the Security team searching for Sheena. He wished to speak with me but duty would not permit it."
"Who is he?" Peter asked, moving the boy to stand slightly behind him and out of K'Nara's reach, just in case. "And of what significance is that dagger?"
"I do not know," K'Nara spat turning the dagger over and over looking as if she did not believe it real. "This is a trick. It should not exist." she hissed. "It was blown up during the explosion that lost Dukath’s son. A very honourable warrior."
Peter held out his hand towards the Klingon. "Allow me to examine it," he offered, "I can determine whether it is real or a realistic copy." The emotions coming from the Klingon were overwhelming and he had to actively concentrate to block them out.
"If this is real, then history is not as I know it," she stated. "It would mean he was not onboard the Breen ship as we were led to believe."
"That or he survived and went through hell to come back," Peter suggested, "Did you know him well?" Of course she did. Peter could sense that she had known him, quite well in fact but he also understood by now that there was more. "He meant a great deal to you, did he not?" He shoved Tay back a little further, knowing his questions could have her erupt in anger.
"We were to be married," K'Nara stated in an almost dreamlike state. Peter could only compare it to seeing Mel sometimes lapse into her host’s memories momentary loosing herself.
The Vulcan opened his mouth to respond, then closed it as he just stood there in surprise. His mind warred with his body to either step forward and try to comfort her, or remain safe by not doing so. Finally, he stepped forward and risked putting a hand on her arm. "Then you should confront him," he suggested softly, almost gently. He tried to put the pain that lanced out from his private parts from his thoughts, trying to focus on the Klingon instead. Her emotions were overwhelming, but his own pain was keeping him from remaining focused as well. "Ask him why you have his dagger, when he was thought to be dead."
K'Nara immediately threw Peters hand off her, clamming up and the anger now radiating at him trying to comfort her slamming him like walking into a bulkhead. She visibly calmed herself, Peter knowing for Tays sake not his. “No he will be long gone. It will take some more . . . I will have to pull in some favours. In the meantime, find out if this is real," she ordered.
"Yes ma'am," Peter answered dutifully, reeling as the anger struck him as though she'd physically struck him. "Only two hours have passed at best since young Tay was given the dagger," he offered, "he cannot have gone far."
"Then I ask that you use all your resources too. I also ask that you do not make the knowledge of this dagger public. I do not wish Dukath to get wind of it unless it is real. I would not wish to put him through the possibility of his son being alive if we are not sure," she asked him.
Peter looked down at Tay, then offered a slight smile, hoping K'Nara knew this was also for Tay's sake. "It will be our secret," he promised, "you have our word." Tay nodded in earnest, his face serious. "Dukath will hear none of this, and I shall report my findings to you in person. As you know, I have some knowledge of daggers; it should not take too long to find out. With your permission..."
"Granted," K'Nara nodded. "And you did well little one." She also added for Tays benefit. "I will be in ten forward."

"Come with me," Peter ordered the boy, who dutifully and obediently followed him. "You are going to assist me with analysing this dagger," he explained as he examined the Klingon weapon. By examining it this way, there was no way to tell whether it was authentic, however he could see the weapon was very much real.
"What I am about to do, you must never do if you ever get your hands on a weapon again," he instructed, as he carefully ran his thumb over the edge of the blade thereby colouring the edge slightly green as it bit into his skin. He examined the cut on his thumb, then ran his tricorder over it. "A blade may be poisoned," he continued, then drew his own for comparison, holding both out to the boy. "See the difference in curvature on the blade as well as the location of family crests?"
Again, the boy nodded, though he remained silent, looking up at the Vulcan with inquisitive eyes. He looked back at the blades, quietly comparing them as he was instructed to do.
"Usually, a Romulan dagger is poisoned, however mine is not. It is, however a real dagger and no toy and I have indeed used it in combat." He put it back into its sheath, re-adjusting it on his uniform. "It is not standard issue but as I am part Romulan, Starfleet allows me to honour that part of my heritage. Now this dagger," now Peter indicated the Klingon one, "is real, razorsharp and not poisoned. Had it been, we would be in sickbay now." He paused, examining it again. "Clearly, the owner did not wish Commander Corval harm, otherwise it may very well have been poisoned."
The two walked into a turbolift. "Science laboratory two," Peter instructed as the lift took them to their destination. "I am no scientist, therefor we shall enlist the assistance of Ensign Science." He looked sideways, catching the boy's attention. "You have met Mr Science?"
Tay shook his head.
"He is Kzinti, a warrior like Commander Corval. You need not be afraid of him, even though he may appear...scary." They walked in. "Ensign Science, I require your assistance."
The large feline approached, looking none too pleased at being disturbed. "What do you want?" he scowled.
Raising an eyebrow, he held out the Klingon dagger towards the cat. "I need a spectral analysis to auntenticate the origin of this dagger," he stated gravely, "and I require your silence. The information of this analysis may not be documented and may only be reproduced on a single PADD, to be given to me in person. No other may learn of the contents, understood?"

Sharon was talking to tak when K"nara approached and asked them to join her in the holodeck to watch some training, They followed the Commander as she headed to the holodeck and entered.
The marine Lieutenant that had justy come aboard was working with her people thru some drills, Sharon stood off to the side watching, the marines trained well, Sharon moved close to the Lieutenant snd spoke.
"I'm Lieutenant Wolf, your marines train hard and work well together." Sharon said.
<Jane>
Sharon watched K'nara leave with Commander Horn, she remembered K'nara mentioning going to ten-forward, so after her talk with the marine she left and headed to ten-forward.
Sharon entered not seeing the Commander, found a seat close to the window and took a seat.

Raising an eyebrow, he held out the Klingon dagger towards the cat. "I need a spectral analysis to authenticate the origin of this dagger," he stated gravely, "and I require your silence. The information of this analysis may not be documented and may only be reproduced on a single PADD, to be given to me in person. No other may learn of the contents, understood?"
“Spectral analysis? On the dagger? I would much rather analyze it for the composition. That would be a far better test…. considering daggers don’t vibrate! Spectral analysis…well…unless you wanted an optical test. Why not just conduct a straight chemical analysis by spectroscopy? We could utilize the wavelengths, suboptical, of the metallic structure and thus…oh come with me. There is a good reason you are not a scientist and I am.” He smirked, shaking his head as he grasped the dagger and moved to the side of the workbench that he was already at.
Taking two probes from the workbench he looked down to the weapon that he was handed, “You, stay here. I am not going to write it on a PADD. Its still too insecure.”
He moved over carefully, walking towards a replicator, “Computer, formulate a piece of tree-pulp paper and an ink driven, ball point pen.”
Removing the aforementioned goods, he shook his head, “They aren’t electronic – they can’t be hacked. Plus, you can destroy the sheet when you are done.”
He continued to move the probes over the device, purring over it – it was odd for a Kzinti to purr, but here he was, doing just that. He then looked towards the boy, “Essentially I am monitoring the way each of these metallic atoms functions in its own position.” He then made several notes on the paper, removing the probes.
Stepping to one side of the bench again, he had the child follow him and he removed a small scraper to remove a portion of the metallic substance on the blade, though such a small amount it was not noticeable.
Placing this into the replicator, he switched it on without issuing a command. He then wrote down the molecular make up of the metallic particles onto the aforementioned sheet before giving that sheet to the adult.
“The replicator can break things down as easily as it can create them. I can see what it recycles components into. Therefore…I would have to suggest it is genuine.”

"Thank you ensign," Horn replied, taking the dagger back with the reverence it deserved, then wrapped it back in the cloth he had wrapped it in before, to keep it safe and away from harm. "Tay?" He held out his hand to the boy, nodded towards the Kzinti then turned to walk away.
At the door, he turned back. "Thank you for your assistance in recovering my daughters," he added with a look of gratitude, "they are recovering well and my wife is also recovering. After I am done with this, I am going to take her home. I am certain Harley would like to thank you in person, please stop by our quarters after your shift ends."
Not waiting for an answer, he somewhat dragged the boy along towards Ten Forward, where indeed they found the first officer. Quietly, Peter slipped into the seat oppsite of her. "Commander, please meet me in my office in ten minutes," he whispered to her, "I do not believe here is an appropriate place to report."
~ten minutes later~ Peter rose to his feet when K'Nara walked in, then picked up the bundle that lay on his desk, handing it to the Klingon, along with the scribbles on paper that Tak had produced. "The dagger is authentic," he reported solemnly. "There is no doubt, it was checked and double checked."
Leaving K'Nara to stare at the dagger, Peter nodded to Tay once more. "I shall take you home to your mother now. You must promise me not to go off on your own again, and instead report to me after your school is done and you wish to leave your quarters. You still have your assignments that I set you to complete. Tomorrow, we shall meet in the holodeck for practice, so you can show me what you learned."
Together, they headed back to the Hannez quarters. "Ma'am, your son has done his part well. I shall pick him up tomorrow for holodeck training. He has tasks to perform now, for which I will examine him tomorrow."
And now, he rushed to sickbay to get to his wife and youngest child; the one thing he had wanted to do all day but never got around to because of his duties. "I have come to take Harley home," he informed the EMH, "as well as Lilah."
Harley was already on her feet, cradling their youngest child, then handed the child to her father. At six months pregnant now, Harley was really starting to feel big and clumsy and she held on to her husband's free arm for dear life, afraid they might get jumped on the way home.
Once home, peter lay his daughter in her crib, then guided Harley towards the bedroom, where he washed and dressed her in clean clothes before putting her to bed. "Rest," he whispered to her, kissing her on her lips as gently as possible, "I shall make dinner soon and wake you for it. I am off duty now and not planning on leaving these quarters until my next shift."
He entered the livingroom, dismissed the nanny and pulled the girls onto the couch next to him, hugging them as he never would in the presence of others. The girls clambered all over him, returning his hugs with as much vigour as the children could muster, crying happily about being home again. A single tear slipped down the Vulcan's cheek as he sat with his children, realising how close he'd come to losing them, and how equally close he'd come to killing the woman responsible. In retrospect, he was relieved to find he had been able to control himself, even more so that he pitied her and wished her no further harm. A Vulcan penal colony would rehabilitate her, treat her such that she would be a better person and able to return some day.

She invited the other 2 senior staff to come view the demonstration with her.
Tak sighed in his usual way as if to express disgust. However, amongst Kzinti, it often seemed as though there were little difference between pleasure and disgust anyways. Following her subserviently, he made his way into the holodeck without any further speech. He had nothing to say, and he did not intend to make any unnecessary words. That would simply be a waste.
Curling into the seat he was given there, he sighed once more and glared out at the events before him. However, in the inside of his mind, he actually enjoyed the exercise that he was viewing. It bared some resemblance to the way in which he viewed combat on the world in which he used to call home.
There, in the manner of Ancient Rome, he would watch criminals who were condemned to die fight to that fate in the ring before he eyes. Enjoying the perceived sense of danger, he kept himself focused on this spectacle before him.
OOC: I think that ties it up for my involvement. Did I miss any other tags?

Quinns returned to Starbase, suprised to see that the Dark Pheonix was still berthed, but glad nonetheless. He activated his stealth device and proceeded aboard, although they had upgraded the Pheonix's sensors inside with all the recent encounters with the Aasimar, it was likely that they weren't in use with them being docked, so he would be able to talk to Sharon before he was sent to the brig for going AWOL.
He had succeeded in his quest for revenge... though he did not know what it had cost him yet, only he and his Katanas knew what had happened, and it was going to stay that way, his silence had been maintained throughout.
He found Sharon in ten-forward, took a seat opposit her and deactivated his stealth, before he could get a word out though, Sharon slapped him... hard.
"I am sorry." Quinn said, simply, but meaningfully, keeping his gaze locked on hers.

Sharon had been sitting there waiting on K"Nara and Tak when the last person she thought she would ever see appear before her, she about jumped out of her seat.
"I am sorry." Quinn said.
Sharon could see in his eyes that he meant what he was saying, his gaze never wandered from hers.
"I don't know whether to scream or cry, I have missed you, Quinn I know we haven't had as much time together as we would like or prefer but I don't know how you feel about me, will we be nothing more then just friends or what?" Sharon asked.
Sharon had feelings for Quinn but, wanted to know if he had feelings for her or is a friendship all they will ever have. Sharon waited for his response and got up debating whether to just leave or sit in his lap and kiss him.

Sharon asked and got out of her seat, though she looked confused as for what to do next, he grabbed her hand so she wouldn't leave.
"Sharon, for what I have done, I hope you can forgive me. You mean so much to me, and hurting you is the last thing I want to do, but I had to do what I did, I didn't like doing it, but it is done now. Sharon, I love you."

Sharon turned to Quinn, her eyes meeting his, he had surprised her saying the words she hahd hoped he would say. She stood up on her tippy toes and they kissed. She felt him pick her up and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you to Quinn, you mean so much to me and more, I would do anything for you, and no matter what you did, you had your reasons for doing so, remember the klingon proverb that revenge is a dish best served cold." Sharon said.
Sharon started to cry, and buried her head in his shoulder. she closed her eyes just letting the tears go, she flet his arms around her but she shut out all outside sounds, feeling safe in his arms was what she had hoped for.

Post by Mel D'BrooNi on Aug 3, 2008 9:11:35 GMT
Mel sat opposite a window in ten forward, still angry and her throat burning from drinking a real drink for a change. Having already lost her temper with Horn, when Sharon and Tak came in she stayed away. Unusual for the Trill, her whole body language screamed don't come near me.
When she did hear footsteps behind her, she knew it would one of four people who dared even speak to her right now. Her mother, Tay, Ian or Horn. Inwardly relieved it wasn't the latter and certainly not Tay after everything today, she looked up into her boyfriends eyes as he slid down next to her 2 drinks in his hand. He placed the second next her own.
"So," he said. "Peter suggested I get you a strong drink."
She glared at the mention of Peter. "He put Tay in the brig," she finally said after a long silence.
"I heard," Ian replied calmly. Actually after Peters cryptic suggestion he had asked around in the Security area. Seemed all his colleagues were brimming with the news Peter had punished Tay and then Mel had angrily had some words with him.
"He's just a child. You don't put a child in the brig for talking to an alien," she said frustratedly.
"Peters my boss Mel. I can't have a subjective opinion on this. You know that," he told her knowing she was wanting someone on her side right now. Although in honesty he wouldn't have done things that way, he wasn't allowed to question the chiefs methods offically. "But hes not in the brig now," he added.
She sighed. Really not wanting to fall out with anyone else today finally she flashed him a sparkling smile. "Thats okay. I kneed him in the groin. I think that was subjective enough for the both of us."
Ian closed his eyes and fought back laughing. Evidently no one had known that on the grapevine and he understood why Peter would keep that to himself. He failed miserably at not laughing. "You didn't?" he asked. Mel nodded before both started laughing hysterically.
"Oh Mel, he's just promoted me as well," he said softly in her ear, moving to put his arm round her. It dawned on him, he had not told her yet.
"Thats okay. He's not allowed to have a subjective opinion on what your significant other does in regards to their family and personal life," she told him diplomatically. It was Leiko all over coming through her personality but he could tell she was delighted for him. Pulling him into a kiss she moved back and said, "Lets celebrate your promotion."
"And Tays release," he muttered as they clinked glasses.
"Lets hope thats only a one time thing," she replied. "I was so close to completely reprogramming the computer not to comply to any more orders from him to beam me away and to beam him to the bridge naked instead," she told him darkly. "Luckily I decided to come back to the brig instead."
"And now," he asked knowing full well if anyone on the ship could do that it was Melanie. And he was pretty sure she would earn herself a stint in the brig if she did pursue it.
"Its a lot of programming. I don't have the time. And I really don't think Harley would forgive me," She answered much to his relief.
"Hey quinn's back," Mel said suddenly noticing the Aasimer appear in front of Sharon. "Brigs getting alot of business today."
Ian looked like he had a headache coming on. "I'm off duty," he told her noticing that the XO who was also nursing a drink had seen it also and was heading the Aasimers way. He grabbed her hand, pulling her up. "Come on, lets get out of here before she decides I'm back on duty."

"remember the klingon proverb that revenge is a dish best served cold." Sharon said. Before the two of them embraced not noticing K'Nara's presence.
"I know another one," K'Nara said loudly as both officers jumped apart. "A friend may become a enemy in less time than it takes to draw a dagger." She made sure to show them both that she had a dagger in her hand before securing it in her belt.
"Mr Quinn, you better have a good explanation for your disappearence," she informed him folding her arms so he knew that she expected it immediatly. "And if revenge was involved you better have dealt with it honorably as a warrior."
