Briefing:
This mission will take us to the future. All of you will be playing characters twenty-five years into the future. Our new marine will also be joining in, even though his training thread is still going. (I have spoken to Naois about this). Melanie will be dead, Peter estranged from his eldest daughter, who is married to Tay Hannez. Present peter is sent to the future by Q, for reasons that will be revealed later. Two others will be playing their present time characters, along with Peter. My suggestion is Tak Science and Sharon Wolf. Again, reasons will become clear soon enough.
Questions? ASK. *answer not guaranteed...I like surprises I think you all remember.*

Peter stared a little longer after his younger self, obviously impressed and a little disturbed as well. "End Program," he finally ordered, and the USS Fang was replaced by the familiar black and yellow grid of the holodeck. "Impressive," he praised again, as they walked out. He led her away from the recreational facilities. "May I buy you a drink?" he queried, "I believe I do owe you one..."
Mel chewed another sweet and swallowed then laughed at Peters disapproval. "I know I know. It's the baby, he's making me crave really strange things. Normally Ian eats these and I stay clear. Yes I would love a drink. Infact I was going to suggest O'Malleys as I wanted to buy Ced one. This holodec is state of the art and he pulled me a favour to use it."
The Vulcan nodded in agreement. "No synthehol," he warned, "not for you or me at any rate. I am quite certain Ian would never forgive me, if I allowed you to. Tell me more about this Ced, and how he pulled this favour."
"Would I?" Mel laughed at Peter's seriousness on the synthehol. "Ced is a man who you love and hate at the same time. Engineer at the academy in my year, rival for most of it, uneasy truce the rest. He's head of engineering projects here and stole the aasimar upgrades from us, and now hes got a hold on the Wahiri specs too. I wasn't happy but we have negotiated and myself and some of the phoenix crew are involved now also. Anyway he owes me big so to say but still only a select few can use that holodec as its a working prototype."
"I see..." Peter looked thoughtful for a moment. "It is said Vulcans neither love nor hate, therefor, I believe I may like him just fine?" He arched an eyebrow in amusement. "Of course, you know better. Come, I shall treat you to a cup of the finest Romulan tea. You will enjoy it, I promise. It has a bite equal to Romulan ale, I am told."
Mel nodded and contacted Cedric as they walked to the bar. Predictably Peter looked rather curious entering into a themed Irish bar. Mel smiled as one of the barmaids waved at her, and led them both past a man playing some sort of stringed instrument towards a table. She sat down as the barmaid made her way over. "Yes my dears, what can I get you?"
"Two Romulan chilled tea," Peter ordered, "did you wish anything else Melanie?" He looked around. "What does this Cedric look like, so that we may identify him sooner rather than later?"
"May I have a cupcake please, chocolate?" Mel asked eyes sparkling. "No need to worry, he's here." Peter watched as a slender human with long black hair pulled back in a ponytail walked up.
"D'BrooNi, how was it?"
"Wonderful, thank you Ced," Mel said shifting over allowing the human to sit in the booth next to her. "May I introduce my colleague and XO of the Phoenix Peter Horn."
The human held his hand out of the table, "Pleasure mate."
Peter did not take the offered hand, but looked up to meet the man's eyes. "Greetings," he answered, "you have my gratitude for the use of your holodeck. Commander D'BrooNi did a marvelous job on creating a program for me."
Cedric merely shrugged at being ignored the handshake. "Doesn't suprise me. So you get done what you need to do or should I try get you another slot?" Next to them the man playing music changed song. Mel's eyes watched him for a moment mesmorised.
The Vulcan shook his head. "No the time alotted was sufficient, thank you. Can I offer you a drink?" He sipped the tea the waitress had brought over. He wondered whether the man was trying to find out the nature of their program, and he hoped Melanie would realise it was none of his business.
"He's good don't you think?" Mel said as her cupcake arrived.
"He who?" Peter looked thoroughly puzzled, gazing from Ced to Mel and back to Ced. "You created the program, Ced provided the means."
"I did not notice," Peter confessed, "I have other things on my mind, more important than a mere musician in a bar." His eyes narrowed in thought. "I should go back to the ship, I am certain Harley would want to visit the station with me and the children. Besides, was there not a baseball match at 1400? Tay needs to show me the rules....I do not know the rules of the game."
"Vulcan," came a voice from where Mel had been staring. "Perhaps you ought to start listening, then perhaps you will see the rules of the game."
Peter turned in surprise. "I beg your pardon? I believe it to be impolite to eavesdrop on a private conversation. "The rules of what game, precisely?"
"Life, love, that niggling way to handle children, oh and yes you ought to get to the baseball game, but then what would I know. I'm just a muscian," he sneered at Peter.
"Indeed," Peter agreed, "you return to your playing, while I return to the running of my ship. And attend a game my daughter is participating in, along with a few of her friends." He rose to his feet, clearly annoyed at the interruption. "Melanie.." He drained the last of his tea and stepped away from the table. "Thank you again Ced," he acknowledged the other man.
As Peter walked away the musician stood up clearly offended. "Oh I will teach you a lesson Peter Horn," He promptly disappeared in a flash of light.

Mike got back to his quarters. He glanced at the bedrooms, hearing Chloe still moving around. Hopefully she would get tired and turn in for the night soon.
"Computer .. Reduce lighting to forty percent." he said.
~~~~~~~~~~
He must have dozed, because he heard someone calling, seemingly far away, then felt himself being shaken ..
"Daddy ...... Dad ... Wake up ..."
"Wha ... Wh ..." Mike opened his eyes, he was disorientated for a few seconds as be moved from sleep to wakefulness, then he recognized the person shaking him, "Clo ... Chloe, sorry sweetheart. I must have nodded off .. What ti ....."
"It's twenty three fifty." Chloe said, "Come on you need to get some sleep. I'm sorry if I kept you up."
"No, you didn't, how's your room looking, I'd like to see it bef ..."
"You can see it tomorrow, it's bedtime now." Chloe insisted, and now fully awake, Mike could see his Daughter was shepherding him toward his own bedroom.
Kissing her on the forehead, he assured her he could manage, and waited while she went to her own room. Once satisfied she was safe, he entered his bedroom and all but collapsed on the bed .. He'd have a minute he thought, then wondering why the hell he was suddenly so exhausted, fell asleep .....
~~~~~~~~~~
Crying .....
He was asleep, but somewhere in that fitful sleep, his subconscious was active.
Crying .....
In his sleep, Mike frowned .. He was in that 'gray' area between being asleep, but still consciously aware that outside his cocoon, something was vying for his minds attention ... His eyes fluttered, as again he heard something that didn't quite fit the 'dream' he was experiencing.
Crying .....
Suddenly, his eyes flicked open ... Every sense telling him his Daughter was in danger ! .. Jumping off the bed he ran to her room, the door opening on his approach.
Chloe was in a fetal position on the bed, she was holding a picture of her and her Mother, whimpering softly in her sleep, she mouthed the word 'Mother' over and over again. Mike was distraught. He had no idea what to do next, this was alien to him.
After a moment, watching his ten year old Daughter seemingly struggle inwardly, he knelt beside the bed and moved the hair from Chloe's face, whispering quietly that everything was going to be OK. Instinct took hold of Chloe and she edged forward to caress, hug, be close to the one thing left to her. Mike edged forward to help Chloe stay on the bed and stroked her hair lovingly .. Slowly, her crying subsided to silent sobbing, then as she snuggled closer to her Father it quietened entirely, until she was in a deep, restful sleep.
Mike watched his Daughter for almost an hour, before he too fell asleep ..........

Tay watched as Kenji tossed the ball to Seleya and she missed again. The young vulcanoid threw the bat down in frustration. "I can't hit it," she said looking upset. This had been her 7th or 8th attempt. Tay smiled gently. "Yes you can. Here," he picked Seleya's bat up again, handed it too her then went and stood behind her and placed his hands above and below hers . "I'm going to show you how to swing, Kenji throw the ball again please," The young breen pitched and Tay helped his younger friend swing and hit the ball. "YES Seleya!" Kenji yelled. Round them some of the older children started to watch her in interest. She was the youngest there. "You just need to swing in from your hips not just your hands," Tay said letting go and moving to stand back into catcher position again. "Thats right," All three children jumped as a human male wearing a hat joined them. "Coach reggie. I have been making it round, watching everyone and deciding who's going to play which position." Tay shrugged. There were alot of kids here, he hadn't even noticed the coach. "Can I play pitcher?" Kenji asked excitably. The man nodded. "And you are definitely going to be a catcher young man." Tay grinned. Seleya looked througtful as the man moved to the seats behind to watch. "Come on little lady. Let's see what you can do," the coach grinned. Tay stepped forward, "From the hips remember. Don't think, just hit it. We know you can do it." She didn't move or even raise the bat. "What's wrong?" Tay asked. "I can't sense that human." Kenji plodded over to join them. "I'm going to pitch you an easy one as I want us all on the same team." "Come on Kids, chop chop," the coach yelled from behind them. "Games starting soon." "Pep talk," Tay shouted over waving and pulling both his friend in closer. "Tradition," he smiled at the man. Lowering his voice again Tay tried to sound reassuring, "Maybe hes not human, just looks human. Theres lots of aliens vulcans can't sense." Kenji's eyes flicked from the coach to a confused looking Seleya and then nodded. "Yeah you can't sense me Seleya." The young girl nodded finally. "Ask Mr Horn when he gets here," Tay volunteered. Their breen friend nodded. "Actually, where is he? He's cutting it fine." "My daddy will be here," Seleya said firmly. Tay didn't argue instead stepping back into his postion. Kenji walked back to his spot and the young vulcan raised her bat. Peter chose that moment to enter and proudly saw his eldest daugter hit the ball rather far and end up being cheered by all the kids. The human coach was on his feet again and clapping. "Yes I will put you in as a batter." "Ah Mr Horn," the human addressed the vulcanoid. "Nice of you to finally join us. This one has a lot of faith in you now, shame it won't always be the case." Everyone was looking confused as the man addressed Peter. "Ah well, time to have some fun though." The human clicked his fingers and in a flash everyone on the pitch was in postion. Tay shook his head in disbelief as Peter was now in full baseball uniform holding a bat infront of him. Seleya and Kenji was out in the middle field equally as confused and the "coach" now held the ball facing down Peter. What was even more suprising was everyone who knew Peter had magically appeared and was sitting in the stalls. A rapid stream of Klingonese alerted Peter to the far left where an irritated and confused K'Nara was now sat, wearing a hat, holding a big foam finger and having a box of popcorn on her knee. Next to her in simular attire was, Harley, his other 2 kids, Naois, Valeia, Melanie, Ian, Melanies mother, Sharon Wolf, Tak Science, and the new security chief Rampton. Ramtons young daughter was stood in the relief section for the team also wearing full baseball uniform. "There are children present," the man pointed at K'Nara. "No language like that." The Klingon was immediatly silenced. "Daddy?" Seleya yelled. "Mr Horn, what's going on?" Tay muttered at the same time. "Who is that?" Kenji yelled followed by all the other children. The human pulled off his hat, waved it at everyone and bowed. "Q at your service." <Horn> Q started to warm up moving his pitching arm on the central mound. "I could hear your true thoughts in the bar you know. My music was slightly below pitch. What would you know? Melanie liked it. I could have let that go but then you pointed out that you had a starship to run and I was just merely a muscian. Not important. I'm a god. It hurt my feelings and I was bored so I decided lets have a little fun. Nothings more fun than a baseball game ehh?" "Mr Horn, whats a Q?" Tay asked curiously. <Horn> Tay looked taken back at Peters snap like response, not understanding the danger they were in or that Peter was trying to keep the children as far out of Q's mind as possible. "Tish tish tish. It's behaviour like that which causes your problems you know. Its only a question," Q goaded Peter as Tay looked annoyed. <Horn> "Perhaps your right. I can accomodate that, as you wish" Q said snapping his fingers again and Peter and the whole senior staff was now sat in the briefing room onboard the Phoenix. "What is going on?" K'Nara hissed now able to speak once more. "Mon Captiane, A Klingon. Your starfleet never ceases to amaze me. Are you as feral as Worf? Don't you just love an animalistic Klingon?" he addressed the table. "Oh and talking on animals, now you my friend are a unique breed Tak Science. How do you fair with this lot?" <Tak Science> "And you, your new," Q pointed at Rampton who had raised his phaser. <Rampton> Q laughed and allowed himself to be stunned. "Nadion particles. Delicious. May I have some more please sir? In fact a nice cupcake would just wash it down nicely, don't you think Mel?" The Trill looked stunned. "I didn't let you finish yours earlier and we can't have junior not happy can we?" he said as a cupcake flashed into both his and mels hands. "Pregnancy," he shook his head. "You know I decided to be female once just to experience it. I don't envy you." "Or you my dear," Q turned to Sharon. "Heartbreak is such a horrible thing." <Sharon> Q smiled and patted Sharons shoulder. "Ahh denial. Such a human trait. Somebody new is about to enter your life. Trust me, I am a god I should know. In the meantime as I know he will put a smile back on your face." Q clicked his fingers again and Sharons Cat Buttons materialised on the table infront of her purring. K'Nara started to say something, clearly more angry at having a cat in her briefing room and Q waved his hand cutting her off then grinned at Naois. "Don't you wish it was that easy?" <Naois> Ignoring him completely his attention now on Valeia, Q smiled flashing round and draping his arm over her. "I must say you are far prettier than the holodoc they had going. Want to make Naois jealous? I could give you the whole universe you know." <Valeia> Q flashed to immediatly behind K'Nara as Naois reached out for him and fell off his chair. "So to business. I want an apology and as I know you are too stubborn to do so yet I have decided to punish you. But what I do have in mind, the "new" laws of the universe state I cannot send you alone. Gone are the good ole days. So you must pick 2 of your crew to join you. I'll await your decision." Q bit into his cupcake, smiled and promply disappeared again. Mike and Chloe had spoken about the previous night. Both of them understood that grieving wasn't something that simply 'went away' .. Chloe would miss here Mother for the foreseeable future, it would just become, manageable, for want of a better word.
After breakfast, Chloe asked if she could have a look around the Phoenix. Rampton too needed to be one hundred percent familiar with the ship before they departed Resurrection, so he agreed instantly. She want to her room to pick up a sweater and Mike began to put his own on, and found himself ...
In a baseball stadium !
One arm still part way into the sleeve, he looked round, totally confused. He was in the stands, along with what seemed to be the Phoenix Senior Staff.
"What the hell !" he said, frantically looking round for his Daughter before spotting her on the in-field, dressed in full baseball outfit, looking at the ball that had materialized suddenly in her hand. He watched, shouting her name but she couldn't hear him, He could see she had seen a group of children waving at her. Not seeing her Father she did what she knew to be best, and ran to the others.
"Capt ..." Rampton began, realization dawning on him that 'Q' was involved in all this, but the scene changed yet again ..
Now they were in the briefing room !
Mike found himself with his back to the plexi-glass windows, giving him a panoramic view of the room. 'Q' was talking as if in some surreal casual conversation, and it took a few second before he could react. Then he leveled his phaser at 'Q' who seemed to notice him for the first time.
"And you, your new." 'Q' said smiling, but Rampton didn't reply, he simply fired, "Nadion particles. Delicious. May I have some more please .. In fact a nice cupcake would just wash it down nicely, don't you think Mel ?"
Rampton looked down at the weapons setting. He had fired with the phaser set on 'Kill' .. It was never on that setting, the default being 'stun' but it hardly mattered, as 'Q' waved a finger and the phaser changed into six white roses.
Rampton threw the flowers on the table and sat down in silence as 'Q' continued to have his fun ..
"...... Gone are the good ole days. So you must pick two of your crew to join you. I'll await your decision." 'Q' finished, leaning his back against the bulkhead smiling. Biting into the cake, he waved flamboyantly then vanished from sight. For a full three seconds the room was completely silent, then everyone decided to speak at once ..........

As Q disappeared, K'Nara finally got her voice back. Slamming a hand down on the table, the Cat jumped and then hissed at her. K'Nara raised her voice and demanded loudly cutting through all the other chatter.
"Mr Horn, you are two days into shoreleave. WHAT DID YOU POSSIBLE DO?" the Klingon demanded angrily. Standing up, purely because she had to be moving right now, she paced to the window and whirled round again.
"WHY is there an interdimesional being popping me in and out of a baseball game . . " she yelled. It dawned on her she was still wearing the stupid hat which she immediatley pulled off her head and threw in the direction of the still hissing animal. Buttons jumped and skulled off in Sharons direction. Naois made a big show of coughing. She looked at the vulcan, glared, thought about it and finally made a very visual attempt to calm down infront of the still stunned senior crew.
Taking a deep breath and catching the pleased look from her counselor that she had taken his cue from the discussion in their first one on one anger management class, she sat down once more and counted mentally to 10 before speaking again. "Sharon please have someone get the cat out of here and pull up everything, I mean everything on every encounter with this Q. What do we know about this . . . alien?"
She opened the floor up to the whole table ...........

"Q at your service."
The Vulcan's head snapped up, his eyes turning dark, flashing dangerously as he regarded the entity called Q. "Q," he hissed, jaws clenched together in anger. "What do you want this time, why do you interrupt a children's game."
----- Q's speech -----
"Mr Horn, whats a Q?" Tay asked curiously.
"I would say that Q is a letter in the alphabet," Peter snapped, his anger barely controlled, "however this being is also called Q. He is a bothersome and meddlesome creature, whom you do not wish to associate with. Stand back Tay, as far back as possible. I will not let you near him."
"Tish tish tish. It's behaviour like that which causes your problems you know. Its only a question," Q goaded Peter as Tay looked annoyed.
"I find your meddling annoying and offensive," the Vulcan almost snapped back, standing protectively before the Trill boy. "And his question will be answered when he gets older, and he learns more about the likes of you. Leave the children out of this, why do we not take this to the briefingroom."
An instant later, the senior staff were in the briefingroom, with the spouses and children and all other spectators left behind in the holodeck. Annoyed, Peter took his seat and watched the scene unfold as Q addressed every staff member individually. He tried to listen to what everyone was responding, but he couldn't keep his attention off Q.
Finally it seemed as though he was addressed yet again and he raised smouldering eyes to the entity, though his expression remained eerily blank. "So to business. I want an apology and as I know you are too stubborn to do so yet I have decided to punish you. But what I do have in mind, the "new" laws of the universe state I cannot send you alone. Gone are the good ole days. So you must pick 2 of your crew to join you. I'll await your decision."
"I do not see what I need to apologise for," the Vulcan replied, his tone clipped. "Do what you must then, since there is no way we can stop you." He hesitated briefly, not really wanting to select anyone to take punishment with him. Briefly, he considered taking K'Nara but thought her moods were too volatile. "Sharon Wolf and Tak Science," he then said, after a moment's deliberation. They certainly needed the experience in odd away missions, which is how he was going to consider this for now.
He watched as Q flashed away, then sank back in his seat. He turned to face K'Nara and made an effort to relax himself. "Apparently, I managed to insult Q," he answered slowly, "and as a result he seems it is necessary to teach me a lesson, though I cannot comprehend what he was referring to. We shall see, as there is no stopping Q. Mr Rampton, please find all security encounters with Q. Sharon, I believe the Enterprise had the most encounters. Pull up all information logged by Captain Picard."
He sighed. "I do believe we have encountered Q before, but at present I cannot recall exactly when. Either it was still under Brahms, or with my previous captain, on the USS Loki. I shall endeavour to remember," he promised.

Post by Naois Mercy on Mar 23, 2009 21:41:16 GMT
Naois hadn't minded so much, attending the baseball game with his wife in his attendance. He didn't understand the game, but he was quite willing to observe and learn. If only to be able to converse with the children during his evaluations with them. He was briefly disoriented when he suddenly found himself in the briefingroom, and suddenly addressed by Q, after the entity sparred with Peter Horn on a certain subject.
"Don't you wish it was that easy?"
"Do I wish that what was easy?" he queried, not understanding what Q was referring to. He had been thinking about overpowering Q, and be rid of him, but surely that wasn't what Q had meant?
Ignoring him completely his attention now on Valeia, Q smiled flashing round and draping his arm over her. "I must say you are far prettier than the holodoc they had going. Want to make Naois jealous? I could give you the whole universe you know."
Naois clenched his teeth together, his eyes narrow as the irises darkened with reigned in rage. "She has no need to make me jealous," he snapped, "and you will kindly keep your attentions off my wife."
He was ignored yet again, and Naois felt as though it was done on purpose, for the sole reason of trying to enrage him. He took a few careful breaths and controlled his anger. "Captain, I do not know how to deal with Q, but I do suggest we give him no reason to play with us. I believe the best course of action is to simply ignore him, so he will grow tired of his game and will leave us alone."

Post by Dr. Valeia Roquel Mercy on Mar 24, 2009 22:01:04 GMT
Valeia thought it was so cute that Naois was willing to go to a children’s baseball game with her. Shoreleave had been abruptly cut short with his new student, but although she was a little disappointed, the doctor was placated knowing he would be coming with them on the next mission and every subsequent mission as well. Having been invited to the baseball game by Mel, she had decided that it sounded like fun, and fortunately, Naois found some free time and agreed to attend with her. As they found seats in the stands, the Betazoid slipped her hand into his and smiled over at him. In spite of his distaste for public displays of affection, this was a more casual, social situation, and the attention of those present was not on them. Besides, even though he did dislike an open show of it, she tended to get away with it far more often than he realized simply because her feelings were returned.
She knew the topic of children still weighed on his mind since their discussion, and the truth was, it was beginning to weigh on her as well. Valeia hadn’t realized how important having kids was to him and tended to be too focused on the present to consider the future most of the time, but now that they’d talked about it, the doctor had started thinking about it as well, and now, as they sat watching all the children practice, she started imagining what it would be like to have their own child out on the field, watching from the stands, cheering them on, or maybe even going to the holodeck as a family for more practice. It was certainly a pleasant mental picture.
Naois seemed deep in thought watching the proceedings, content to simply hold her hand and observe, and while Valeia was daydreaming herself, she happened to notice the sudden appearance of K’Nara on the stands. Glancing around, she found others also present who weren’t there before, all similarly dressed. Glancing over at her husband to see if he had noticed too, she found that he was suddenly wearing a hat and jersey as well, and although her first reaction was to think that he looked adorable, clearly something else was transpiring. Since they’d taken a seat on one of the benches furthest back form the field, the doctor couldn’t hear what was being said, but there was some sort of discussion between the man who was now...um...pitching, and Peter, who was now...batting, as well as a few choice words from K’Nara it seemed, and some shouted questions from the kids.
Suddenly, the senior staff all reappeared in the briefing room, plus the pitcher from the field. Valeia’s hand instinctively tightened around her husband’s, and now she could hear everything being said, though the doctor had absolutely no idea what was going on or what any of this meant. When the...being’s?...attention focused on Naois, she gripped his hand even tighter again, but of course, this…Q’s focus soon shifted onto her. "I must say you are far prettier than the holodoc they had going. Want to make Naois jealous? I could give you the whole universe you know."
Why everyone seemed to be after her, Valeia didn’t know, and yet another surge of irritation flared as she felt Naois tense beside her. “Thanks, but no thanks. Not my type...” she quipped dryly as she gave her husband’s hand a calming squeeze, but he was already moving towards the Q, who vanished, only to reappear out of his reach causing Naois to lose his balance somewhat, although she steadied him.
"She has no need to make me jealous, and you will kindly keep your attentions off my wife,” Naois shot in his direction, but Q ignored him, and he only tensed further.
With his final declaration, something about Peter picking two people to go with him somewhere that Valeia completely did not understand, Q vanished, and then the real discussion began. Doctor Mercy was entirely confused by all of this. First of all, who was this Q? The vanishing/appearing stuff was extremely disconcerting, if not the tiniest bit impressive. That Commander Horn had somehow managed to get in trouble didn’t surprise her, but Q had her completely thrown, but at least Peter hadn’t selected Naois. Then he really would have been in trouble. “I don’t understand...” the doctor finally spoke up, though she usually remained quiet in meetings unless it directly involved her or medicine. “Who is he? What is he? I mean, he appeared human or at least humanoid, and obviously has some sort of advanced transporter technology, but other than that, I really don’t understand what we’re dealing with here.”
From what she could tell, Naois was just as confused and uniformed as she was, but Valeia knew he would never show that like she just had. Clearly, they were both missing something here, and she wasn’t used to seeing him completely baffled like this, and that almost worried her more than the actual situation. Whatever was happening here was unlike anything else she’d seen or heard of, and although more accustomed to confusion than Naois, the doctor didn’t like being in the dark one bit.

Post by Mel D'BrooNi on Mar 25, 2009 13:31:10 GMT
Mel had watched Q's flashing in and around and individually addressing crew members with interest. As everyone started talking and K'Nara issued the order to bring up everything D'BrooNi naturally began to stir memories. She had heard of this alien before too but not in this form. Leiko's husband had heard stories directly from an enterprise member crew.
"He is a powerful entity that is immortal and godlike. He hails from the race the "Q" or the "Q" continuim," Mel informed them. "He put the Enterprise, under the command of Jean Luc Picard on trial for humanity and popped up many times over the years with puzzles and sometimes just to torment them. Some believe he is the guardian of humanity in that although some of his interactions with starfleet have been unusual and on occassion dangerous, he has taught us that there are things out there we are not now or never may be ready to face. He is the being who introduced us to the Borg, propelling Picard and the Enterprise in space to encounter a cube. Tread carefully here Peter," she told him seriously.
"That is good advice Melanie, you should listen to her now as she is no use to you where your going. And that is a fact that both burdens and torments you Peter Horn. You will see that," Q's voice boomed around them.
Mel swallowed nervously not wanting to entertain what Q's cryptic words meant.
"I take your choice Vulcan."
With a flash Peter, Sharon and Tak Science were gone from the briefing room.
Please note from this moment on, we are all now 25 years in the future. The Dark Phoenix is still docked at Resurrection and engaged in celebrating 30 years of its commission. Everyone, crew past and present have been invited back to be within these celebrations. So please make up your own backstories to where you see your character being 25 years from now and have them travel in to join the celebrations. The current Captain of the Phoenix however is Admiral Sharon Wolf.
Melanie is dead but I will however be playing Tay for this mission. I look forward to seeing where everyone ended up 25 years on.
Peter, Tak and Sharon were disorientated for a few seconds as everything seemed to flash and then they were back in the meeting room but staring at different people.
"Connor, what in the universe?" A Trill in what resembled a starfleet uniform suddenly said loudly as they all got there barings. "Where did you . . . . " he looked confused. "How did you . . . . Your supposed to be on vulcan . . . . " he spluttered.

Sharon was in her quarters taking a nap, boots was curled up next to her, she had spent hours on the starbase shopping. She bought a new dress, and some toys for boots to play with. She had lunch on the promenade then returned to the ship and found her shopping had been beamed over and the ever curious boots found a toy..
Sharon was all of a sudden woke up when she found herself sitting in bleachers with the rest of the Senior Staff at a baseball game. She took a moment to focus then they were in the briefing room. Boots then appeared, he got up on the table before she could react. Q, she should have known, and he had to bring up her ex-boyfriend, who disappeared without a goodbye. He disappeared then K'nara upset Boots, who hissed at her, and hissed again when she threw her hat at him.
Sharon picked boots up and handed him to one of Commander Horn's officers. "Please take him to my quarters."
He nodded and left. K'nara asked her to bring up everything on the Q encounters, she found the Enterprises and Voyagers encounters. 'Captain, the encounters with this Q have been random, Captain Picards logs show that ideally he is someone to study, but to put it mildly he can be a royal pain in the rear."
Sharon smiled when Commander Horn requested her and Ensign Science to accompany him then the room changed slightly and Sharon jumped when she looked across the table at herself although older by the grey in the Red and now in a Gold uniform wearing Admirals Pips.
"I cannot believe this, am I dreaming?" Sharon asked.
Future:
Sharon stood up when the others appeared, what was worst was she was looking at herself 25 years in the past. She tapped her Copmmbadge.
"Admiral Sanders to Security, intruder alert." Sharon said.

"Stella cartography have completed their readings Admiral."
"Same as before." Mike said, exasperation showing in his voice.
"Indeed." the Science Officer said.
"Helm. Move us to the next location." Louise said, then, after a few moments of silence, she continued, "So why did you turn it down this time ?"
"Same reasons. Why in hell would I want to take a job where I'm sat behind some fancy ornate desk for ten or twelve hours a day. Look what it did to Admiral Brahms." Mike said, resting his chin against his palm, "Twenty years he was in the job and all it did was kill him."
"Oh come on ..." his Exec' said almost laughing, "It wasn't the job that killed him, and you know it. The meteor shower ruptured the shuttles hull and caused an anti-matter explosion ... No-one survived."
"Hmmm." was all Rampton could come up with.
"I give up !" Louise said, raising her arms high above her head.
No-one gave her antics a second thought, because everyone n the bridge of the USS Bradbury had heard the conversation a dozen times over since Admiral Rampton had been offered Chief of Fleet Operations.
"Stella cartography have compl ......"
"completed their scans ... Nothing ... Again." Rampton interrupted.
"Aye Sir.
"Look .. We're due at Resurrection in ten days' time for the celebrations. It will take us nine days to get there. Why don't we head back now then finish off this sector when we return ?" Louise prodded, "You can't put it off Mike, they're expecting you to be there."
Rampton remained quiet, he had no wish to reunite with his former crew-mates. Not because there was bad blood between them, but seeing them just served to remind him of his own mortality .. Brahms gone, Melanie dead, it was too much. The only plus about going back was he would meet with Chloe and his Granddaughter Clair ..
Mike gave in .. He usually did .. Louise was half his age and well on the way to her own Command, though Mike wondered at times if she already had one.
"OK .." he said, feigning submission.
"Helm. Plot a course for Star base Resurrection .." Commander Williams said grinning, "Warp seven ...... Engage."
The Sovereign Class Starship turned majestically, then jumped to warp, arrowing at unimaginable speed toward her home port ...
~~~~~~~~~~
=^= Well if you go to bed early I should be almost there when you wake up =^=
=^= Really ? =^= Clair said with all the sadness a seven year old girl can muster.
=^= I promise princess .. Huggles and kisses =^=
Clair kissed her hand then gently blew it toward the screen. Shouting her Mother, she darted toward her room ..
=^= OK sweetheart =^= he said as his Daughter bent toward the screen, =^= We should be docking at fourteen hundred hours so I'll see you when I get in =^=
=^= Righto Dad .. See you then .. Love you =^=
=^= Love you too honey =^= Mike said as the screen went blank. He caught sight of the three gold Admirals pips and wondered for a fraction of a second if he should consider the job he'd been offered, then dismissed the thought as quickly as it had appeared.
Tomorrow they would be back at Resurrection ..........
Post by Tak Science on Mar 25, 2009 18:31:18 GMT
OOC: This was supposed to go into commitments, but apparently it had not posted and by now the thread is locked. I apologize sincerely.
IC:
Tak Science had planned to utilize his time for the most enjoyable thing that he could think of. Of course, being a Kztini, enjoyment meant that there had to be some degree of violence involved. He had found a holographic simulation program of something called Escrima from Earth. Apparently it was little more than the Fillipino art of, as Tak Science saw it, beating people with sticks. Grasping a rattan bat in his paw, he narrowed his eyes as the holographically generated opponents came towards him. Looking about carefully, he swallowed as his paw reached upwards, swatting at the opponents with the bat.
A crazed look appeared in his eyes as he dropped the aforementioned bat and started to swat now with drawn claws. Reaching back on his haunches, he had the adversaries pinned down to the ground, one in each of his tackling arms. Snarling, he drew his claws then across their faces, causing their holographic projections to stifle in the protuberance and fade out.
Jumping to his footpaws, however, he quickly stood upon one of them and gave a swift roundhouse kick to the newly advancing enemy standing immediately behind him. Narrowing, then, his eyes he scoffed at the computer arrogantly. Looking about himself, he seemed to be challenging the system to provide a tougher antagonist.
Grumbling, he looked up, “The Kzinti method is better…”
"Mon Captiane, A Klingon. Your starfleet never ceases to amaze me. Are you as feral as Worf? Don't you just love an animalistic Klingon?" he addressed the table. "Oh and talking on animals, now you my friend are a unique breed Tak Science. How do you fair with this lot?"
“This lot?” He murmured out and looked to the other with a smirk as he folded his arms, “Are you looking for a scientist’s opinion? Or how I feel about it? Those are two halves to me. Look at my name after all – do you want Tak or Science to answer?”
After scoffing at his exceedingly rare joke, or at least, rare in that it was not at someone else’s expense, the Kzinti looked up and nodded, “Seriously though, about….ahem…this game?” He looked over to the ball with an eye of disappointment, and thusly narrowing his eyes. “Well, it is…a game. A morally bankrupt game that does…actually, wait. I will stop speaking for a moment.”
A strange grin then came across the feline’s countenance.
“I have been told that there is a tradition in baseball called a brew-haha. Is that the correct term? Especially, when they say a pitcher gets…was it..lit up? Then he gets on fire?” It was quite obvious that the Kzinti had been taking these terms very literally as he then began to cackle, “You understand, I would love to see a human with flames licking at his flesh and threatening to tear apart his body. This game is perhaps not as vindictive of moral bankruptcy as I had so previously believed.”
Post by Commander Peter Horn on Mar 25, 2009 19:32:24 GMT
"Connor?" Peter looked puzzled, staring first at his Human companion and then at the feline one. Finally, he gazed back at the young Trill that stood before him, gazing very intently at him. The young man looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't understand from whence. "I am not Connor," he then clarified, "I am-"
A young Vulcan woman approached and Peter did a double take when he saw her. She looked very much like his own wife, except she had elegantly curved ears and slanted eyebrows. On top of that, she appeared to be with child. "Tay what is keeping you," the woman started, then froze. "Connor?" she queried, "did you take leave from your studies on Vulcan? Did grandma send you here?" Seleya knew Grandma T'Narha had urged her younger brother to attend the celebrations. "Is father coming too?"
Seleya's expression turned grim, her eyes hardened. "If he does, tell him I do not wish to meet with him. Nor does mother."
"Sharon, am I dreaming?" Peter asked quietly. "Tak, please tell me I am dreaming, this cannot be real."
Seleya glanced at her husband. "I believe my brother must be ill...he is rambling." She reached out, but Peter stepped back just in time. To touch her would be catastrophic, he knew. "Oh, are you going to be like this then?"
Peter stood frozen, rooted to the spot, all colour drained from his face. His eyes were wide with horror as he realised where Q had sent them. "Yes it appears so," he answered, feeling that he was here to observe something important. "Have you seen Melanie?" he addressed the young Trill, "I have something to discuss with her."
Elsewhere on Resurrection, Peter Horn regarded his reflection. His hair had gone almost white over the years, which was somewhat unusual for a Vulcan his age. Yet the burdens he bore had taken a lot out of him. So much that he seemed to have turned grey overnight. His eyes were ever haunted as he tried to squeeze himself into the dress uniform he hadn't worn for two decades. No longer was he Commander Horn, now he was simply Peter. Tonight, hopefully he would reconcile with his eldest child.
"Father please.." Lilah fussed at her father's collar, while a young Vulcan male stood close by, observing. "Sennit, please tell my father he is worried for nothing..."
Sennit nodded carefully. "My wife is correct, there is nothing to fear. Only Connor is missing for this reunion but he promised to do his best to be here."
Peter sighed miserably. "I do not wish to be here," he murmured, disgruntled at his daughter's fussing. Is your mother going to be here too?" He missed Harley terribly, but he couldn't blame her for demanding a divorce so many years ago. He had never taken another mate, his heart always yearning for the woman who had saved him so long ago.
"Mother can't make it," Lilah replied, "and I don't think she wants to see you. I'm sorry." Awkwardly, the young woman hugged her father. "I sawl Sely earlier, she looks healthy and happy."
Back at the party, Peter finally found the will to move again. "I must apologise, I am overwhelmed..."
"Admiral ... Star base Resurrection is hailing us. We're free to make final approach."
"Thank you Lieutenant." Rampton said, "Tell them it's good to be home."
"Aye Sir."
"Looking forward to seeing your Daughter and Granddaughter I'll bet." Louise said, then continued without waiting for a reply, "Hope you managed to get your dress uniform cleaned and pressed, should be a good turnout." she finished, knowing she was winding her Commanding Officer up.
Mike simply remained silent. He too knew what she was doing, but refused to rise to the bait. 'Besides, she usually won there too, so no point in starting' he thought wryly.
"On final now Admiral .. Resurrection is requesting control."
"Open a Comm please." then when he received a nod of confirmation he spoke to the 'base.
=^= Resurrection .. USS Bradbury requesting docking =^=
=^= Granted Bradbury .. Resurrection has maneuvering control .. Sit back and welcome home =^=
They watched as the Sovereign Class Star ship passed through the massive Space-dock doors, passing from the darkness of space, to the bright lights of the dock. Mike could see three Star ships already docked. He had noticed at least three more clamped to external docking ports. The Bradbury edged forward slowing, There was the Dark Phoenix, that's what they had come to celebrate. She had reached her thirty year milestone, a long time in service, even for a Star ship.
Mike could see the observation windows and the lounge beyond. They were too far off to see individuals, but he hoped Chloe had made it down for their arrival.
A worker-bee shuttle seemed to zip across the screen as the ship came to a halt. Umbilicals were attached joining the ship to the base, power would come from there soon. Two large walkways swung out to join smoothly to the ships ports.
=^= Docking complete Bradbury .. Shut down your core when ready =^=
=^= Thank you Resurrection =^=
"See to it Commander." Mike said getting up and resisting the urge to stretch, "I assume the shore-leave rota's have been finalized ?"
"Yes ... I'm Soooo looking forward to some rest and relaxation." Louise said.
"Then you can 'UN' look forward to it, because you are attending the celebrations with me !" Mike said grinning.
"But !" Louise began, but Mike cut her off."
"Hey .... YOU wanted to come here." he said trying not to laugh out loud at what he was doing, "So make sure you have a clean dress uniform .. Assign duty shifts, we'll have technicians on board while we're here doing minor upgrades. See you later." he finished, finally breaking into loud laughter as his ready room door closed behind him ..........
JP between Horn and Tay/Seleya
"Admiral Sanders to Security, intruder alert." Sharon said.
Tay was about to respond he would sort it personally having already got his phaser out but Seleya walked past him and approached Connor. With his pregnant wife in the way he lowered the weapon and listened as she spoke to him. However when his brother in law turned and mentioned Mel he immediately froze. "Why would you say something like that?" he snapped emotional barriers immediately flaring up.
Confused, Peter glanced at Tay. "What do you mean?" he asked, genuinely disturbed, "did I say something wrong?"
"What is wrong with you?" he said his voice full of emotion. Hurt, anger and guilt all radiated from him at once.
"I do not understand," Peter replied, sensing that something was terribly wrong. He reeled at the force of emotion coming from Tay and he staggered back. He glanced to the two young people before him, realising that Tay must think him mad. "What was it I said, that was wrong?"
Knowing something definitely wasn't right Tay gently moved Seleya away from “Connor” as a Security team entered the briefing room. "Sir," Roberts nodded at him awaiting instructions. "Take them directly to the brig. We have intruders here. Sely that’s not your brother. Connor would never . . . . He would never mention . . . “even now tears welled up. He took a deep breath and looked back at his team. "I will be down to question them personally as soon as we are finished up here. My sisters been dead for over 10 years. I don't know who you are but the act gets drops."
Peter's eyes widened in shock. "Dead," he whispered, sounding defeated, "that is what he meant...she is dead..."
Seleya moved to stand beside her mate, resting a delicate hand on his arm. "Tay please...of course that is Connor. Who else would he be? Would I not recognise my own brother?" She watched as security marched Connor off, and then shook her head. "I admit he feels strange...but he is family, I know for certain."
"That’s not Connor," Tay said firmly. He tried to bury the hurt again as he knew through their link, despite Seleya not being full Vulcan she would be sensing his pain and he most certainly didn't want that inflicted on her. He moved his hand and squeezed hers despite himself then addressed the Admiral and tried to appease his wife. "Maam, perhaps we should have them admitted to sick bay first?"
Seleya nodded in agreement. "Please admiral, I fear my brother may be ill."
"Father..."
Captain Naois Mercy turned, casting grave eyes on his youngest child. At age ten, and only recently having joined his family, Wintrow was still adjusting to living in a large and close-knit medical family.
Over the course of 25 years, the Mercy's had adopted seven children, after Naois nearly lost Valeia early on in the only pregnancy he allowed her to have. After that, he vowed he'd not put her through that again, and he had not. His oldest son, Revan, had followed him into counseling. They had adopted the Betazoid when he was still a baby.
On his desk stood several pictures, one of each child. His son Revan was 23 now and just graduated to be a Counselor; Delon, 18 had just been accepted to Star fleet Academy. His first daughter, Laura, was Human and had just recently turned 17. Fifteen year old T'Rache and her Vulcan/Romulan brother Stevin were more sedate than the rest even though the latter was only ten years old. Kestra was as outspoken as her mother, though equally shy and had just gone to high school at age 12.
Wintrow approached his father, his cheeks blushing bright red as he knew better than to disturb his father in his office. "They're waiting for you Father," the boy announced, "Mother said to come fetch you." His dark brown eyes shone brightly. "Revan's here too, he's with mother. And Laura's on her way...."
Naois turned, a smile tugging at his lips as he ruffled the boy's hair. "Good boy," he praised. "And where is Stevin? Still studying I presume? As you should too?"
The boy's blush deepened. "I'm done," he promised, "and Stevin's just being a show-off. He's doing this control thing you have him and T'Rache practice. Oh and he demanded we practice the err...mindmeld?"
The Captain's eyes narrowed. "Did he now...I shall be having words with him about that, he is far too young to practice it without adult supervision." He took his son's hand and walked out of his office, meeting Valeia in sickbay. He gazed fondly at his wife. "Wintrow came to fetch me, are you ready?" he asked, looking forward to seeing many of his old shipmates again.
Post by K'nara Corval on Mar 25, 2009 21:54:36 GMT
K'Nara moaned as the lights were raised. As she let her eyes readjust she heard her husband inform her the bird of prey was now at its destination and proceeding to dock at the station.
"Are you certain you want to do this?" Merzan asked for about the hundreth time. Since leaving the Federation some years back, she had taken centre seat in Corval house affairs, Klingon politics and brought up their two sons. It was completely strange to all of them being back on a Federation station having been on Kronos so long.
"Dukath would have wanted it," She replied for about the hundreth time. Also although she would not admit it to her husband, it would be nice to see her old crew, she did still keep in touch with the Mercys and a few others and being on the Federation exchange programme had been a big part of her life. After all it had resulted in Merzan being brought back into it.
He nodded at her as she got up and gratefully took the steaming cup of Raktajino. As she sipped it, she watched him arm himself strategically and laughed.
"Just try to not get into any trouble," She said finally. "And your sons. You have had words with them?"
"I have," Merzan stated, "But as always I cannot vouch for Dvoreks behaviour."
K'Nara groaned.
As Q
Q popped into sickbay and casually draped himself over a spare biobed smiling maliciously as the confused and shocked 3 members of the past Phoenix crew had been seperated, were being watched with phasers pointed at them and quizzed and scanned by a multiple of medical staff.
"Every scan confirms this is the Admiral 25 years younger," came an astounded voice. "I think we ought to get her down here . . . . ."
"This is not Connor Horn, its his father. How is this even possible ...."
Peter noticed Q and immediatly started to say something but Q put his fingers to his lips.
"Only you can see me," Q said with a smirk, "And we don't want them thinking your mad too now do we?"
He flashed once more and appeared next to his bio bed as the bewildered doctor was no confering with her colleagues. Clearly Q was invisable to everyone but Peter.
"So I'm guessing you are wondering what happened to Melanie. Let me show you."
In another flash Q and Peter were standing on the central promonade of Ressurection. Below them sat on a bench with the same engineer Peter had met earlier that day, before being propelled into the future was Mel full of life and healthy.
"They are driving me insane Ced," Mel said looking like she had been crying. "Every little thing, I end up having to play peacekeeper and its just got worse since mum died. Tays off the rails, Peter digs in and they are both as stubborn as each other . . . . And this fight today, I just had to get away. So I left, I yelled at both of them and left . . . ."
"I mean its not like I have enough to sort out already with the twins and Patrick just starting school . . . gods Patrick I'm supposed to pick him up . . . . I better get back, I shouldn't be here. Thanks for the sympathy . . . .
"NOBODY MOVE,"
Everything seemed to go in slow motion as several armed aliens seemed to decloak infront of Peters eyes all among the promonade. It took a few moment to place the species but the wings gave it away. Aasimar.
Panic ensured and there was yelling and screaming until all the Aasimar rounded everyone up into one group and had all the stationed at all the entries and exits within minutes.
"This station is being held hostage until Starfleet returns Ghez Elme back into our custody."
"Starfleet will not negotiate with rebel Aasimar," someone yelled. It earned them being hit by the back end of the phaser weapon the alien was holding.
"Well in that case we will kill someone every hour until they re-assess that decision and realise we mean business . . . . starting with . . . " the alien talking surveyed the group and finally eyes rested on Peters Trill colleague.
"Starting with this one. Nothing personal darling, it just happens the Federation pig who caught our leader was a Trill. So I call it poatic justice."
A terrified Mel was roughly yanked up and marched to the front, phaser pointed to her head. Time seemed to freeze.
"I think we will leave it there but you get the gist," Q said before clicking his fingers and Peter was back in sickbay as if he had never left.
Peter had no choice but to go to sickbay, it was either to walk willingly or be strongarmed there. He knew enough about timetravel to know that avoiding scans was probably the safest bet, but it was unavoidable. He lay perfectly still, saying absolutely nothing, not even in answer to the questions drilled to him by security. Sedately, he allowed the scans, knowing there was nothing he could possibly do to avoid them, save start a fight and break out. And he had the distinct feeling that Q was going to cause trouble for him if he did.
His mouth turned into a very thin and grim line as Q forced him to watch how Mel died, and he felt all will drain from him. He'd been the cause of her death, he realised, part of it anyway.
Above his head, the monitor started beeping, sending out a warning of patient in distress.
Elsewhere, Seleya stared at her husband. "Why did you do that?" she demanded, "arresting your own brother in law?" She was clearly convinced that the so-called intruder was her own brother Connor, despite her feeling that something was wrong. She tapped her combadge. "I am calling Valeia, she treated father so often in the past, if you think Connor is not Connor, she would be able to tell for certain, no matter what sickbay may say."
She paused briefly. "Doctor Mercy, would you please head for sickbay and make sure that the three held there are who they say they are? Captain Hannez believes them to be intruders, I say one of them is my brother Connor."
Post by Dr. Valeia Roquel Mercy on Mar 26, 2009 8:02:04 GMT
Warning: Massive Post Ahead (Couldn't sleep with this post running through my head, and obviously, I got carried away. Lol. I'll post the rest tomorrow, hopefully, unless of course I still can't manage to sleep. After all, I still have Peter's tag to reply to. )Glancing from the data padd in her hand briefly to Kestra and Wintrow, who were sitting on the couch in her office hard at work on their homework, Valeia sent the young boy a smile when he looked up before he quickly turned back to his work. It had been a rough year for him, but she was so glad to see him start to open up to them. The Betazoid was trying to finish all her paperwork and reports in preparation for the celebration, and the arrival of Revan, their eldest son. She had missed him terribly while he was away at school, and this past month when he had traveled to Betazed for research before receiving his first assignment. Now, the whole family would be together again until that sad day when he would leave again to begin his life. But that wasn’t something she wanted to think about, not right now, not ever. As she returned her attention to the medical supplies report, the doors to sickbay opened and a handsome young man in a blue uniform with dark hair and black, Betazoid eyes entered, found his mother across the room with her attention taken, and with a slight grin began to quietly move in her direction. His siblings facing the door saw him immediately, but he quickly signaled to them to stay quiet by holding a finger to his lips. They grinned, understanding what he was doing, and when the doctor glanced in their direction again they looked back at their schoolwork trying to contain their laughing as Revan ducked behind a biobed. Frowning, wondering what they were up to, Valeia then sensed her eldest son’s presence and a huge smile lit up her face as she leaped to her feet. “Revan Mercy, you get in here right now,” she scolded and smiled even more brightly as her son popped up into view. “You know I can’t help trying when you’re distracted,” the young man teased as he crossed the room and returned his mother’s hug, trying to pull away after a moment but held fast by her tight grip. “Mom…you can let go now…” Revan reminded her gently, winking in his sibling’s direction behind her back, causing them to giggle. “I’m sorry,” Valeia apologized wiping away a tear. “I’ve just missed you so much.” “I know, Mom,” he replied, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before turning his attention to Kestra. “Well, don’t I get a hug from my favorite Betazoid sister?” Revan asked jokingly, which of course resulted in him being nearly knocked over. After picking her up and swinging her around once, the Betazoid turned his attention to the still perfectly quiet, hesitant boy. “Hello, Wintrow. I missed you too. How are you doing? Is Stevin still giving you a hard time? If so, I’m sure we can come up with a prank to play on him...harmless of course,” he added, catching his mother’s glare. “He is, but I’m doing fine. It’s getting harder for him to trick me,” the quiet human boy replied, his eyes lighting up in spite of himself at the idea of pulling off a prank. “Alright, enough of that, there will be no pranks on my watch,” Valeia interrupted, giving Revan a playful swat on the arm. “Don’t listen to Revan. He’s only teasing.” While Revan attempted to look innocent, he telepathically asked his mother, ‘How is he really doing?’ A cough and a nod towards Kestra from Valeia reminded him that his half Betazoid and also telepathic sister was in the room too, and he flushed. Sending him another scolding look, Valeia turned to Wintrow. “Will you go and get...Mr. Mercy? He’s in his office.” At the boy’s suddenly terrified expression, she gently added. “It’s alright, Wintrow. I’m asking you to do it for me, and remember, I’m always allowed to interrupt Mr. Mercy,” she reassured him with a teasing grin. Nodding, Wintrow went to do as he was told, and Kestra raised an eyebrow at both her mother and brother, as if to remind them she wasn’t a child anymore. Revan flushed again, reminded of his mistake. “Kestra honey, will you go tell T’Rache and Stevin that their brother is here, and…see if you can find Laura, please?” Valeia asked, and at her daughter’s groan added, “I know…but if she doesn’t come with you, she will be in big trouble. I asked her to come to sickbay nearly an hour ago.” Reluctantly, Kestra left, with a look that said she knew she was being dismissed to an unpleasant task to avoid hearing a ‘grown-up’ conversation. As soon as she’d gone, Revan collapsed into a chair. “I am so sorry, Mom. I keep forgetting that she can hear telepathic conversation now. I guess I’m still used to it being our secret.” “Well you’d better get used to it,” Valeia reminded him, taking a seat across from him. “She’s getting stronger, and she’s so quiet it’s easy to forget. I’ve made plenty of mistakes talking to Naois forgetting she could hear.” At Revan’s grin, the doctor blushed. She made similar mistakes when he first began to develop his telepathy. Quickly changing the subject, she continued. “So, how was your trip to Betazed? I know it was work, but I hope you had some fun. Did you make any new friends?” Now sending his mother a scolding glance, Revan replied, “No, Mother…I haven’t met a girl... I’m not dating anyone, but you know perfectly well I’m not in any rush. You and Dad set a level to match, and you know I refuse to settle. I want to find a girl who I’ll love like Dad loves you,” he reminded her gently, smiling nostalgically. “And who loves you like I love your father,” Valeia added. “But that doesn’t mean you can just sit back and wait for her to show up. It may have sort of happened like that for us, but we got lucky. And I hope it doesn’t take you as long as it took me.” “You and me both,” Revan teased, also quickly changing the subject. “So, how is Wintrow doing? He still seems very nervous, but he was clearly happy to see me.” “Yes, he was, and he’s doing well. It’s a slow, ongoing process, and Stevin certainly hasn’t helped any, but your father explained to him why Stevin behaves the way he does and has helped him learn to stand up for himself.” Smiling to herself, she added. “We’re making progress, and he does have his moments. A month back, he caught a mild virus, and I woke up in the night sensing his discomfort. When I went to give him a hypospray, he took my hand and asked me to stay with him. It’s little things like that which helps me know we’re getting there and makes it worth it.” Smiling also, Revan replied, “That’s good…and considering the trauma he’s been through it will take time for him to adjust. First he has to develop a sense of trust and safety, not just with you and Dad, but the entire family. Then he can begin the process of truly healing. With some therapy and actually talking about...” his mother was looking at him, and with a grin, the young man raised his hands in surrender. “Ok, ok…sorry…I know you don’t like psychological talk and you know all this...” “Thank you. You know I get enough of that from your father,” she teased in return, before shaking her head. “Stevin has really given him tough time, but he’s a tough little guy. Two weeks ago, Stevin convinced him that your father had asked them to meet him in the holodeck. When they got there, Stevin’d programmed a maze, and promptly got Wintrow trapped in it before altering the program so that it looked like Wintrow had done it to himself and then left him there. It took three hours for us to notice he was missing, since Laura was supposed to be watching them, but when we finally found him, he was just sitting calmly on the floor of the holodeck. He said as soon as the entrance vanished, he realized it was a trap and sat down to wait for us to find him. It’s a good thing too, because Stevin had programmed a bunch of monsters, obstacles and traps throughout the maze. Of course we knew he was telling the truth, and Stevin was in big trouble, so it all worked out, but the little guy just took it in stride and didn’t complain one bit. He’s a remarkable kid...” Also shaking his head, Revan suddenly switched gears. “Oh, I heard about Delon getting accepted into the Academy. Good for him…I’m so glad he found direction, even though I know how you feel about weapons, but if that’s what he wants then I’m happy for him. What about Laura? It sounds like you are still having trouble...” Sighing, she nodded. “Honestly Revan, I don’t know what to do with her. You know she’s always been independent, but since you left for the Academy it seems like she’s being difficult and rebellious on purpose, just to get to us, and it’s frustrating.” Smiling slightly, Revan replied. “She is, Mom. That’s part of being a teenager. And before you say it, I know, I wasn’t like that, but I’m not human. She’ll grow out of it, and things will get better, and she’s actually acting like a typical second daughter.” “So your father tells me...” Valeia sighed again. “But even he’s at a loss as to what to do with her. He’s tried everything he knows, and nothing gets through. I hope...” Spotting Naois walking a slightly accelerated pace toward them, her face lit up. As father and son greeted each other, the doctor’s eyes glowed happily. She loved to see how amazing her husband was with their kids. Wintrow stayed out of the way, but his mother quickly pulled him back in. “Thank you very much for getting him for me. See, I told you that I’m allowed to interrupt him whenever I want,” she teased. As Naois and Revan began a conversation, Valeia’s commbadge chirped. =/\=Mom, I found Laura, but she won’t come with me,=/\= Kestra’s voice informed her softly. =/\=Mom…you are embarrassing me! This is so humiliating…=/\= the voice of her eldest daughter complained a few moments later. =/\=I’ll be there in an hour.=/\= Trying to keep her composure, Valeia replied, “No, I asked you to be here an hour ago, Laura. You know that. And besides, your brother’s arrived here a little early.” =/\=Oooooo your hot older brother?!=/\= the voice of Laura’s friend, whom Valeia recognized as Triana, squealed, and from a short distance away, Revan blushed. =/\=Shut up!=/\= Laura’s annoyed voice whispered, before adding, =/\=Alright, I’m coming. Are you happy?=/\= she asked rhetorically before the channel was closed. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Valeia offered a sad smile to Naois before her face lit up once more at the sight of Stevin and T’Rache entering sickbay. The each greeted Revan in turn, very calmly, although Stevin’s eyes betrayed his excitement. “Delon said that he should be here shortly. He is completing another training session,” T’Rache informed them all, after she’d reluctantly returned her eldest brother’s hug, and while Stevin also received a hug, more enthusiastically. “It will be so wonderful having everyone together again,” Valeia gushed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Her family meant everything to her, and she had missed Revan and his calming influence on her and everyone else. This meant the world to her. Unfortunately, her joy was short lived, as her comm badge sounded again. =/\-Doctor Mercy, would you please head for sickbay and make sure that the three held there are who they say they are? Captain Hannez believes them to be intruders. I say one of them is my brother Connor,=/\= Seleya requested, sounding worried. In spite of the seriousness of the message, Valeia’s face fell. She was absolutely crest-fallen to be torn away from the reunion she had been so looking forward to. Taking a subtle step in her direction, Naois sent her a vaguely sympathetic look, while beside him, Revan glanced in T’Rache’s direction, the shift in her expression almost imperceptible and unnoticed by everyone else. Sadly tapping her badge, Doctor Mercy replied, “I’m on my way, Mercy out,” before turning back to Revan. “I’m sorry, but I have to go. I’ll try to be back as soon as possible,” she promised, giving her son a quick hug and smiling at the rest of them. “No one says anything funny until I get back,” she teased, giving Naois a quick kiss before heading to go.
Tay watched as Sharon was informed by sickbay that a 25 year younger version of herself was currently in sickbay. From the stunned look she had had when the intruders had "popped" in to the briefing room, Tay seemed to believe the Admiral had already worked that out. Sharon bore the news remarkably calmly to Tays admiration.
He was certainly struggling with it and a horrible feeling was dawning on Tay as to who the others may be. If a 25 year younger version of the Admiral was onboard, it stood to reason there was a possibility a 25 year younger version of Peter Horn may well exist also. Of course that would explain why he had been mistaken for Connor and why Seleya was sensing family.
The Admiral insisted the XO Chloe join her and set off. Tay was about to follow when Seleya rounded on him.
"Why did you do that?" She demanded, "arresting your own brother in law?" He didn't really sense anger from her, more annoyance and confusion more than anything, so he supposed that was a good thing. But with her being pregnant and seemingly suffering the same hormonal inflictions all female members of his family seemed to have got in that condition and he himself had witnessed and lived through in her previous pregnancies, he really didn't want to make the situation worse.
Tay had always tried to keep on good terms with everyone in her family despite what had happened the best he could except Peter. He never could bring himself to forgive Peter or . . . . . himself.
"I am calling Valeia, she treated father so often in the past, if you think Connor is not Connor, she would be able to tell for certain, no matter what sickbay may say."
The mention of her father spawned another eruption of emotion in him and once more memories of his sister to flood to his mind. "The Admiral ordered security in. As Security chief, did you wish me to disobey a direct order?" he appealed to her sense of logic trying to steer the conversation away from Peter Horn knowing the mood he was currently trying to conceal and no doubt failing too, meant quite likely this could descend into an arguement or worse, he would do the thing she hated more than anything, shut her out.
"Tay," she said softly, moving slowly towards him. All attempts of managing to conceal what was whirling round in his body was failing clearly and the tiny emotional remmants despite the concern he could sense off of her didn't make him feel any better right now. In seeing Peter and Harley fall apart, Tay had amazing learnt to bury the pain, a fact helped muchly as they had learned pretty quickly not to discuss her father or his sister - Ever. Unfortunately that strategy didn't seem to work when a younger version of her father popped up out of nowhere and was mascurading as Connor. No, right now, there was just confusion and in his mention of Mel everything just felt like a raw open wound again.
"Do what you think best, perhaps that is Connor after all," he muttered backing away and trying to be diplomatic but not believing it. "He and others still materialised in the middle of the briefing room from Vulcan which by all counts should be inpossible and that requires investigation." He didn't add the question what in the universe was her brother doing in the company of a Kzinti, a race that on occasion made Klingons look like soft fuzzy tribbles. "I will be in sickbay."
Sharon shook her head, this makes no sense she thought. She looked at her older self in awe and confusion, then security came in and took her,Commander Horn and Tak Science, she assumed to the brig but was changed to sickbay.
Sharon watched them escorted out of the briefing room and shook her head. "This is strange, Chloe, Tay, this does not make any sense, do you think after 20 years of not hearing a word from the Q, he might have something to do with this?"
Sharon's husband Mike was onboard, he had worked with Mel and Ian in engfinedering until Mel's death, then Mike became Chief engineer, for 5 years then became assistant head of the corps of engineers. Sharon and Mike were married by Captain Corval while Mike was still working under Mel and Ian, 10 months later Sharon went into labor and their first child, Rose Gayle was born. 3 years later Sharon gave birth to their second child Mike Jr. A year later Sharon Lee was born, then David. After four they had a good family, Sharon later became the Captain of the new Dark Phoenix A.
"Chloe,have science run the ship and surrounding area for anything unusual before and after our visitors appeared. I'm heading to sickbay and talk to The Mercys." Sharon said.
<Chloe>
Sharon headed to the lift and took it to sickbay. She entered sickbay and nodded to a nurse, then saw Valeia and Naois. "So what can you tell me about them, are they who they seem to be?"
Earlier:
"Chloe, have science run the ship and surrounding area for anything unusual before and after our visitors appeared. I'm heading to sickbay and talk to The Mercys." Sharon said.
Chloe jumped out of her seat and moved to the Science Station. As the Phoenix was docked at Resurrection, the ship was running on a skeleton crew while others went onto the Star base. The duty Science Officer, Ensign Cernan, was already setting up the required scans.
"What have we got ?" the Exec' asked.
"Nothing." Cernan answered, frustrated, "We're where we are supposed to be. The Base is where it's supposed to be, and there's nothing else I can tell you Sir."
Chloe sighed.
"Get a report to me as soon as the scans are complete. Concentrate on the seconds before and after our 'guests' appeared OK."
"Aye Sir." Cernan said, studying his panel again.
Chloe sat back down, she had an hour of her duty shift left, then she needed to pick up Clair ...
~~~~~~~~~~
Later:
Clair could hardly contain herself as she watched the massive Sovereign Class USS Bradbury come through the docks doors. She escaped Chloe's grip and ran to the plexi-glass windows of the observation lounge. Chloe raised her arms in submission and followed the seven year old ..
"Granddad is on there !"
"Yes Sweetheart, He's on there." Chloe said, smiling.
Ten minutes later, they watched as the walkway extended to gently caress the saucer section of the USS Bradbury. Neither could wait and they ran, well Clair ran, Chloe tried hard to retain 'some' dignity as she approached the Security Officer stood at the entrance to the ship.
"Ma'am ..." he said, holding up a hand.
Clair laughed ..
"She doesn't like being called Mam unless it's me calling her it." she said, grinning, "Do you MAM ..."
"Stop calling me 'mam' will you." Chloe said to her Daughter, "You're not some sort of twentieth century urchin you know. I'm your Mother, please use the title as it's supposed to be used." she finished, causing Clair to stick out her tongue as her only form of compliance.
Chloe turned to the bemused Officer.
"I'm Commander Chapman, Exec' of the Dark Phoenix. I'm here to meet my Father ..." she continued as the man looked blankly back at her, Admiral Rampton ... He's my Father ..."
Realization finally dawned on the man and he moved to one side.
"Sorry Commander. I didn't realize the connection, different names and all." he said, "The Admiral was on the Bridge, would you like me to inform him you are on your way ?"
"NO NO It's a surprise !" Clair almost shouted, causing the man to tack a further step back.
Minutes later the turbo-lift doors opened onto the Bridge ... Clair couldn't stand still and rocketed out of the lift and around the Command rail. She spotted Mike and yelled with joy ..
"GRANDDAAAAD ....." she said, and Mike just managed to hand his cup to a shocked Louise before the tiny dynamo that was his Granddaughter jumped onto his lap.
"Surprise ..." Chloe said, smiling at her Father ..........

Post by Dr. Valeia Roquel Mercy on Mar 26, 2009 22:38:11 GMT
Valeia couldn’t begin to contain her disappointment at being called away, especially before Delon and Laura arrived and her whole family would be there. However, she was also a professional, and the call had sounded quite important, not to mention somewhat personal, as Seleya and Connor were both close family friends. She didn’t understand how Connor could be perceived as an intruder, but hopefully she’d get this mix-up sorted out quickly and then get back to her family. Arriving in sickbay, Valeia had only taken a few steps towards her three, separated patients when she stopped cold. This wasn’t right... Memories and emotions all came flooding back in a jumbled mess as she glanced from Sharon, to Tak, and then finally settled on Peter. She knew him, or rather had known him, but that was a long time ago...
Wordlessly pulling out her tricorder, Doctor Mercy ran a detailed scan on each of them, before compiling them all into the computer and accessing her records from the Phoenix. Peter’s arm was recently broken and healed, but given the multiple times that had happened, that didn’t help narrow things down. Once she finally established from his medical records that he was from somewhere during shoreleave following the mission to rescue Merzan, as she had scanned him both before shoreleave began and after it had concluded, she then confirmed Sharon’s scans fit into that timeline, and Tak’s also were very close to the scan of when he had returned from the Breen camp. That plus identical physical dating put them into arriving from somewhere in a week’s span. She knew who and when, just not how.
Before reporting, Valeia decided a test was in order. Using her telepathic skills, she carefully probed Peter’s mind, only increasing her memory of this person. He resisted instinctually initially, perhaps surprised by her skill level since in his time, she had barely begun to develop them, but after a moment, he lowered his guard and allowed her to find what she was looking for. Finally, deciding on one last test, Doctor Mercy asked him directly. ‘What was the date just before you arrived here?’
<Tag Peter>
She had expected him to answer, as although he had not probed her memory, her probing had most likely confirmed to him that she was who she appeared to be, and once he answered, Valeia felt 100% certainly that he was a past Peter Horn.
Glancing around at the other doctor’s present, she surmised they had reached the same conclusion and she had been called in for an independent confirmation, which she had certainly found. Though she was called by Seleya, Valeia reported to Admiral Sanders first. “Admiral, I have confirmed through medical scans that the people in sickbay are indeed twenty-five year younger versions of yourself, Peter Horn, and Tak Science. I’ve also telepathically confirmed Peter’s identity, and he’s independently confirmed the timeline of where they came from that I had already discovered. They are from the period immediately following the mission where we rescued Merzan,” Doctor Mercy informed her, avoiding mention of things occurring in what was their future. “I recommend that Naois come and speak with them as well, but I’m medically and telepathically convinced and believe they pose no danger.”
<Tag Sharon>
As the channel closed, Valeia first contacted her husband. She knew with Revan there, he could handle the rest of the kids, especially with T’Rache helping, as well as Delon, once he arrived. “Naois, I’m sorry to interrupt your reunion as well, but I think you should come to sickbay too. I’ll explain when you get here,” she requested sadly, knowing that this would interfere with both the family and Phoenix reunions.
<Tag Naois>
Now that Naois was on his way, Doctor Mercy knew it was time to tell Seleya what was going on, which was not going to be easy, on her or Tay. Moving out of ear-shot of Peter, Valeia tapped her commbadge. “Seleya...the person in sickbay is not Connor. He’s your father...from twenty-five years ago. I confirmed it myself with the medical records and scans and telepathically. He has no memory of anything that’s happened in the last twenty-five years, save what he might have leaned so far from being here. I know this is difficult for you, and it will be for Tay as well, but the two of you may want to get down here... He is the Peter Horn we all knew…”

OOC: This post as Chloe Chapman:
IC:
"Surprise ..." Chloe said, smiling at her Father ...
"Can we go outside ?" Clair asked, hugging her Grandfather so tightly he wondered if he would require resuscitation soon.
"You've only just got here Clair." Mike said, grinning, "Hello Chloe. Good to see you again sweetheart."
"You too Dad." she said, leaning to kiss Mike on the forehead, "Is the mission going well ?"
"Well as can be expected ... I seem to be spending most of my time back and fourth to the Star base. They say it should be fully operational within six months."
"Good to hear." Chloe said, sitting in the Exec's seat.
"Come on." Mike said, getting up, Clair still wrapped around his neck, "Let's get off the Bridge."
Suddenly Chloe's Comm badge chirped to life ..
=^= Dark Phoenix to Commander Chapman =^=
=^= Chapman =^= Chloe said frowning.
=^= Commander .. You are needed back on the ship .. There's a .. Problem =^=
She looked at her Dad. 'What could they possibly need her for in Space dock' she thought, how many things can go wrong when a ship is docked ?
"Go." Mike said, "I'll keep Clair with me ... We can go to the holo-suite can't we princess."
"Yessss." the seven year old shouted.
"I'll be back as quick as I can OK." Chloe said, heading for the turbo-lift ...
~~~~~~~~~~
"What's going on ?" Clair said as she stepped onto the Phoenix' Bridge.
"Commander, the Senior staff are in Sick-bay. I've been told to get you down there as soon as you get back." the duty watch officer said.
"So you couldn't have told me to go straight to Sick-bay while you were on the Comm ...... Never mind." she said as the man started to speak.
Entering Sick-bay, she could see three people unknown to her. Chloe prided herself on knowing the face, if not the name of all the ships' Officers and crew .. On closer inspection, the three newcomers looked somehow 'familiar' but she couldn't for the life of her think why.
Chloe listened in something approaching awe, as the situation was explained to her, or at least, what they knew so far .. These three were from the past, twenty five years in the past. 'Q' had been up to his old tricks again ... Chloe had had no dealings with the entity, no-one in this time frame had. But it was obvious he had something in mind for the three Officers from the past. Her mind flashed to her Daughter and Father, their safety was paramount, nothing would harm her family.
She silently swore to that as she watched the three being examined ..........
Laura stormed into the room just after her mother had left; her face was flushed deep red, her eyes set in anger. "She had no right!" she cried out, "I'm humiliated!"
Naois and Revan turned in unison when the 17 year old girl came to a halt before them. "And why exactly are you humiliated?" Naois asked, casting a meaningful look on his eldest son.
"She called me in the presence of my friends," she fumed, "I'll be the laughingstock of the ship!" Her voice turned into a shriek.
"Laura, you are making a scene," T'Rache offered quietly.
The teenage human girl rounded on her Vulcan sibling. "Stay out of it!" she shrieked. "You don't understand anything about this, so keep your mouth shut."
"Laura.." Naois warned, raising his hand in warning. He'd never strike out at her; he prided himself on the fact that he had never once struck any of his children, in anger or otherwise. He would threaten to, but he'd never follow through. Never had he come this close to actually slapping the girl though. Guiltily, he lowered his hand again, which earned him an approving look from his eldest son.
Wintrow cowered behind him, clutching at his leg. "Please," he whimpered, ducking his head. He hated the arguments his sister would cause and how long she could carry on doing it.
Naois held the boy behind his broad body, almost glaring at the teenage girl. "You are frightening your brother," he stated calmly.
"Laura please," Stevin now chimed in, standing beside T'Rache, his face impassive like hers though it was clear he was struggling.
At that moment, the doors slid open and a hansome tall Romulan walked in, wearing a security cadet's uniform. The Romulan's gaze swept the room, taking in the situation at a single glance. "Laura, you will cease your tantrum, immediately," he commanded, raising himself up to his full height as he faced his one year younger sister. "Can't you see you're scaring the little ones?"
Almost immediately, Laura fell silent. Wisely, Stevin didn't cut in that he wasn't little. Revan almost smiled as Wintrow raced forward and hugged Delon. Awkwardly, the Romulan returned the hug. "Run along now little brother," he offered, before straightening again. "Greetings father," he started stiffly, watching Laura run up to Revan from the corner of his eyes.
Naois' eyes shifted to his second son, nodding quietly. "Welcome home," he returned, "your mother had something to attend to, she should return shortly."
At that precise moment, he too was summoned to sickbay. "Acknowledged," he answered. "Revan would you please look after them?" he asked of the Betazoid. "Delon, perhaps it would be best if you joined me. Wintrow, please release your brother, he is uncomfortable. Revan will look after you until I return."
The boy looked at him with wide, fearful eyes. "Don't go," he wispered, "don't leave me behind."
Revan walked up and gently disentangled the stricken child from Delon's leg. "Win, please. I'll tell you a story if you come with me. You like stories, don't you? I'm sure Laura will help me, won't you Lau?"
Laura nodded mutely while Delon straightened. "I'll go with you sir," he answered formally.
Naois arched an eyebrow in response, but nodded. Minutes later, the pair walked into sickbay. "I was summoned," he stated, "I have brought my son, Cadet Delon Mercy with me to observe. What is going on?"
Post by Commander Peter Horn on Mar 27, 2009 21:56:20 GMT
Seleya started after her husband. "I am going with you," she stated, and there was no changing her mind. "You say that is my father, I want proof. I want to see with my very own eyes. And I want to tell him what he did to us, how he hurt us, how he hurt me. I want him to know how I felt. If that isn't Connor, then why did he pretend to be. Where is the logic in that!"
"I don't know," Tay answered honestly. "This is too strange. I don't even know how to react to a man who hasn't been involved in horrible things that have happened yet. And I don't want to end up upseting you because I'm not dealing with it well."
“I want to see him,” Seleya demanded, putting her foot down. “If he's truly from our past, he'll show it. He has to know what gruesome things he will be involved in. Perhaps if he changes something, all will be different. Surely you can agree with me on that?” She regretted not having spoken to her father in at least ten years, but she felt his was the first move to make. And she doubted that he would, he was too proud. Well, she was too proud too, she couldn't forgive him for trying to keep her and Tay apart.
Tay took her hand and squeezed it. "I agree. Maybe other things could have been avoided too." He hated that both he and Seleya were estranged from him. Yes, he could not forgive Peter for Mel but he never wanted Seleya to have him completely out her life. Peter could have been in it and him and Peter set some ground rules to be civil but he never accepted him as her husband.
Together, they walked into sickbay, where Seleya halted on the side of Peter's bed. She looked closely now, searching for subtle differences. It was shocking to see that he was so much like Connor, or rather, that Connor resembled the younger version of her father so much. The Vulcan's eyes shifted to her, widening in shock. “Seleya?” he asked, before they shifted to Tay.
Seleya nodded, suddenly at a loss as to what to say. She had wanted to say so much, but she found herself speechless. She looked back to Tay and reached for him. “We have to talk,” she finally spoke, “you and Tay have to talk. It's important, very important.” She looked away. “My father is around somewhere, no doubt when he learns he'll want to see you. He'll accuse us of things...I haven't spoken to him in ten years, not since Tay and I decided to get married. Mother should be arriving soon, though I hope father will not give her a hard time. They too, have not spoken in ten years.”
Peter shifted his gaze to Tay again, raising himself up on his elbows. “Tay?” he queried softly, gazing intently at him. He ignored Valeia standing close by, knowing she aleady knew the answers to her questions. He also ignored Naois and a young Romulan male he didn't recognise, though he heard the young man being introduced as Naois' son.
Tay swallowed hard and tried to will the hatred he had for Peter Horn away knowing this was a different Peter Horn. "I was almost 8 when you last saw me?" he did the math quickly and took the nod he got back to move on. "Then please understand that whatever you think of the young me and however stupid I, . . . . he gets . . . I, he grows out of it and loves Seleya completely. And if . . . . when", he struggled to word it. "When you go back try not to argue as much and I can do the same and then . . . ." he looked at Seleya as if trying to draw strength from his bondmate. "Then Mel will be here and you won't be the person you are now in this timeline."
Peter sensed the young Trill's honesty, though it caused him a bit of trouble to realise that this Tay was in fact older than he was now. He still felt shocked over what Q had shown him in regards to Melanie's death and it had hurt him deeply. “What am I, in this timeline?” he asked, his voice barely audible. He didn't want to ask, but felt compelled to. Peter had the feeling he turned into some sort of monster, and it horrified him more than anything. Clearly, he was distressed, too stunned to even try to sit up further. Instead, he let himself fall back on the bed, trying hard not to probe into Tay's mind and let him do the talking instead.
"Angry, proud, unable to reason, you disolved our engagement, beat me up, alienated Seleya as well. You haven't even seen your grandchildren," he pulled Seleya into a hug knowing full well that thought upset her as well.
“Grandchildren?” A smile crept up on Peter's face. “I am a grandfather?” The smile disappeared just as quickly. “I would never beat a child,” he replied, “I cannot imagine having done that.”
Seyela nodded. “We have two sons, Joel and Kyle. And a third child on the way.” She leaned into her husband. “You did beat Tay, you forcibly tried to keep us apart. Mother left you because of it, taking Lilah and Connor with her. You did not attend our wedding, and we haven't spoken in a decade. Rather, your future self didn't. But you can change that, when you go back. It's agains the Prime Directive, but you must change. All the hurt you singlehandedly caused.” She fell silent, burying her face against Tay's shoulder.
"You didn't beat a child. I was 18 and defending Seleya. And this version of you can still bend. You recently told me, the young me . . .” he thought to remember the memory of the night Peter had come and asked for a mindmeld. " I am capable of disobeying orders if I believe the end goal is to save lives. This will save lives and make everybody's better. Seleya's right. You have to break the prime directive.”
Horrified, Peter glanced at them both. Clearly, they were devoted to each other, surely he wouldn't have tried to break that up? He couldn't imagine having done so, nor could he think of what could've driven him to do it. He was acutely aware of his old counselor friend standing to the side, observing. His son appeared tense, uncomfortable. “This is not my doing, coming here,” he admitted, “Q sent me, Sharon and Tak here for a reason. I am not certain yet why, but I believe he will tell in due time. I assume you will have us transferred to the brig? Presumably to keep us safe and from contaminating the timeline?” It was what he would've done.
Tay nodded and kissed Seleyas forehead. "I'm sorry. You know I have to do that." He couldn't remember his own father but could imagine how horrific this was on his wife. Hating her father for 10 years and now being parted from the man he had been before becoming so bitter in the future. This was the Peter Horn she had loved and respected.
Seleya nodded while Peter rose to his feet, albeit somewhat weakly. “You should do as you feel is best, sir,” he spoke politely, “I shall not contest your authority.” He turned and caressed Seleya's cheek, in a very non-Vulcan show of affection. “You grew up beautifully,” he admired her, “I cannot imagine you grew to hate me so.” He looked away, ashamed. “I pray my present self will come to see that soon.”
Tay nodded at his team to take them to the brig and pulled Seleya closer. "Admiral," he said to Sharon. "We have the final security arrangements for the celebration reception to go over. Can you meet me in half an hour?" Upon Sharons nod, he got Seleya and himself out of there before Naois or anyone else could pounce on them. She was crying now. "Its all going to be okay baby.” Seleya nodded. “Do you think my father will be there?” she asked softly, looking hopeful.
"Theres one way to find out," he said wiping the tears away. "Kenji 's got the kids, so why don't you go get ready and leave the Admiral, Chloe and me to sew up the final arrangements."
Again, she nodded. “I'll meet you in your office in an hour,” she promised, “and I'll be more..presentable.” She offered him a weak smile before she kissed him. “I love you, Tay Hannez, never forget that.”
Tay was about to kiss her back when his communicator bleeped. =^=Starbase to Hannez. Sir we may have a problem. A Klingon delegate for the Phoenix celebrations is claiming . . . in the background there was a rapid steam of Klingon cursing followed by. How dare you accuse me of imagining things. "She is claiming there are intruders on the starbase.=^=
"Mother," Dukath groused as the Klingon family in full formal Corval house dress walked down the promonade on Resurrection killing time before the reception. "This Federation light stings.""
"It is cold too and there are strange smells,"Rezan joined in.
K'Nara growled as she felt her patience going as it had been for most of the trip to Ressurection. "There is a whole galaxy of things different to Kronos," she hissed, "And you a supposed to be warriors. I dealt with this on a daily basis upon being in the Federation years ago so prove to me you are your mothers sons."
"Yes Mother," they replied straighting their shoulders. She smiled inwardly but secretly had to agree with them the environment was taking some getting used to again. As was the stream of crowds. It was taking all her patience and every one of Naois's 17 anger coping methods that she had reviewed before boarding not to start pushing and barging her way past. That and keeping her whining boys in order.
Being forced to stop once more at a subsection a quick glance to the right had her doing a double take. She shook her head, no she had not seen a furry tail. Surely it was the light and her adversion to it after so long playing havic on her eyes.
She patted the side of her dress, a concealed dagger colliding with her leg, thought about it again and stopped abruptly. It was bugging the intelligence and warrior side of her enough to cause some concern.
Only 2 races she knew of had tails and one of them, the only one in it who bothered with the Federation was a respected and valued warrior in hers and the Klingon empires eyes. Tak Science would never be scurrying round subsections of starbases. Which meant if she had really seen it, big trouble could be brewing.
"Go join your father," she ordered her sons.
"Why?"
"I said NOW," she rounded on them. They exchanged a look and decided it wasn't worth testing her temper right now and ran to join Merzan and Dvorek up ahead.
She probably should have called for some sort of back up just in case but the proud side of her wouldn't let her. So instead she wandered down into the dingy sub cooridoor alone. Zig zagging down several more corridoors she was about to give up and contest it being her imagination when she stumbled across a jefferies hatch entrance being ajar. Openning it slightly she heard voices. Feline voices. Her dagger was unsheafed as they started to get louder.
Familiar ears poked out and she attacked immediatly horrifed to be face to face with a Rahhari once again. No one had heard anything of them for 10 years. Naturally the time apart had sullied her mind on just how strong these beings were and as it got its barings and whiped round, exiting fully she was flung across from her position to the side of the wall quite forcefully. She hit her head and slid down groggily as another emerged and berated the first.
"We do not have time for a distraction," the second closed the jefferies tube firmly and to K'Nara's suprise ran off. Moving to her feet again and taking chase once more they had disappeared completely. Taking the pain in her head as ongoing proof she had most certainly not imagined that, K'Nara walked back to the nearest terminal and alerted security.
Unfortunately they were not very forthcoming in believing her. Scans found no evidence of anything suspect in the jefferies tube she identified, so she was pretty much about to blow her top if somebody suggested she had imagined it one more time when one officer with some nouse decided to alert the Phoenix staff.
To her delight Naois Mercy walked in along with a Trill she vagually reconised. "This Vulcan knows me and he will tell you I do not imagine enemies of the Federation or Klingon empire." She pointed at Naois angrily.
