If possible, Naois pressed himself further into the seat he had tumbled into, when Valeia stood over him. He had tried to interrupt her once, trying to explain but it had only seemed to enrage her further. Seeing her so enraged shared the living daylights out of him, but at least he knew now she was capable of proper rage. He just sat there in utter silence, waiting for her to finish while tears of fright and shock still flowed freely and he made no attempt to wipe them away.
When she finally did finish and returned to her seat, he was relieved to find her just glaring at him. Some women, when enraged, turned violent...much like the woman who stalked him. The nurse had reacted in violence when security had issued her the restraining order. Valeia, fortunately just glared, but it was just as frightening. "You are not my property," he finally whispered, moving to sit beside her.
She half turned away from him, moving out of his reach. "Ensign Science misunderstood. He thought you would fight me for invading your private space, and him being a warrior race I tried to explain that you are my girlfriend, but I suppose I could have phrased that differently. I tried to put winning you over in warrior terms, but I fear it got out wrong."
He edged closer to her, reaching out for her. "I am concerned for you, but I realise now that I have been crowding you. You do need to take care of yourself better, for I cannot be here with you at all times to make certain you do take your rest. I apologise for carrying you out of sickbay like that, and I apologise for making you feel you were treated as personal property. Please understand I had only your wellbeing at heart."
When she didn't respond, he sat back and allowed his words to reach her. He still encountered that wall of anger when he tried to probe her mood, but it wasn't as intense as before. "I will leave you to be on your own now," he said, as he rose to his feet. "I am exhausted and I need sleep...unless you want me to stay, in which case I shall sleep here on the couch."

“Wait…” Valeia sighed reluctantly before indicating for him to sit back down. Naois glanced down at her briefly before taking a seat next to her as requested. She was still trying to calm down, but what he said had made sense, fortunately for him. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Valeia decided to let him off the hook. “Apology accepted.” she finally said, glancing sideways at him.
Both seeing and feeing his relief, her anger subsided entirely, as she reached out to gently wipe the tears from Naois’ face. “I’m sorry I yelled at you like that. I should have given you a chance to explain before I got so angry. I just…when Peter told me you said that I…thought the worst, and I shouldn’t have. Forgive me?” Valeia asked, as she rested her head on his shoulder and leaned against him, tucking her feet up next to her on the couch.
Once his arms surrounded her shoulders, Valeia wrapped her arms around his waist hugging him back. After a few moments of silence, she sighed happily. “Thank you…not just for apologizing, but for calling me your girlfriend. That’s what I really wanted, you know, some sort of recognition, a definition of what we are. I didn’t know whether to call you my instructor or my patient or what when Commander Horn asked me and that upset me more than what you said.”
Yawning, Valeia snuggled closer to Naois while resting her hand next to her face. “I’m not hurting you, am I? Because I’m perfectly happy staying right here for a little while if you don’t mind…it feels nice to just relax with you like this.”
One more, slightly larger yawn and a few minutes later, even more exhausted by her outburst, Valeia was fast asleep, her fingers holding tightly onto his uniform.

Maneuvering the massive vessel was not easy .. The Human ship, the Dark Phoenix was close-by .. The Nebula was preventing each of the ships seeing the other. But that would become a moot point if one of the other ships searching for them was to get too close ...
She HAD to get clear of her pursuers though, so staying to fight wasn't an option, much to her annoyance !
"Increase speed." she ordered.
The female at the Helm hesitated ... But for less than a second ... She knew full well what their Commander could do if provoked ..
"Increasing to ... Full impulse Mistress." she replied, her voice failing to hide the fear and trepidation she was feeling ..
The Rakhari vessel plunged ever deeper into the Nebula .. Just as the Bridge crew were beginning to worry about their direction, Rakhi spoke again ..
"Bring the ship about .. One hundred and eighty degrees .. Once clear of the nebula go to Warp six !"
It wasn't lost on anyone on the Bridge, least of all the female at the Helm, that such an action could result in them colliding with one of their pursuers. Unfortunately for one of the younger crew, she chose this moment to question Rakhi's order .. Three razor-sharp claws raked across the females chest, cutting almost fifteen centimeters deep, they severed several major arteries before puncturing lungs and heart as they passed. The female fell to the floor in agony, screeching in pain and confusion. It didn't last long, she was dead within thirty seconds ..
The Bridge was deathly silent ...
"Do I have to slaughter everyone to get my orders carried out ?" Rakhi asked, her voice a menacing whisper.
The Helm Officer spun the ship almost on it's axis to face the opposite direction, then pushed every gram of power into the impulse engines .. Fourteen minutes later, the ship cleared the nebula and instantly jumped to warp .. They were going after the Ferengi vessel that held the other, infinitely more powerful weapon ... ~~~~~~~~~~"SIR .. I'm almost positive we've just been passed ..!" said the duty Navigation Officer. "Explain." Brahms said, leaning forward in his seat. "Well .. Sensors didn't pick up any object .. But they 'DID' pick up some sort of wake or ripple in the nebula." "Heading ?" "Directly astern Captain .. Whatever or Whoever it was had no regard for the fact there are other ships in here." "Bring us about .. Match the heading of that ship .. It has GOT to be Rakhi ! .. The Phoenix made the turn, then increased speed, but only to one half impulse .. As much as Brahms wanted the Rakhari vessel, he didn't want a collision .. It took almost thirty minutes for them to get free of the nebula and able to increase speed .. "Do you have them ?" Marcus asked, trying hard not to shout. "One long-range scanners yes Sir .." "Warp Six ..." Brahms ordered. The Dark Phoenix arrowed into the darkness of space. Pursuing an old enemy, one that, this time round, wasn't going to win ..........

Sharon's fingers flew across the board as the ship trailed after the other vessel the phoenix jumped to warp 6 following the other ship closely, Sharon kept an eye on the ship just in case it pulled any funny maneuvers, Sharon had a few tricks up her sleeve then her sensors beeped a ship on long range sensors.
"Captain, long range sensors detect a ship just coming into the system. reads as a ferengi freighter they will be here in 73 minutes." Sharon said.
This threw a new wrinkle into this and adding to the mystery, and Sharon loved mysteries. They kept on the other ships rear pushing the phoenix's engines hard then her sensors she had kept adjusting picked up the assimer clear enough to get a transporter lock.
"Captain, I am picking up Mr. Dexter enough to get a transport lock on him but .." She trailed off.
The sensors had him now hes gone and knew the captain was not going to be happy about this but there was nothing she could do till he became visible to the sensors again, she kept working on the sensors and awaited further orders, she had an idea using a old fashion way of sending messages, all that needed was a calibration of the sensors, she maybe Able to send a message to the assimer without causing him to much pain.
"Captain, I maybe able to send Mr dexter a message using the sensors and old fashioned teletype. if he understands morse code he maybe able to receive a message." Sharon said.

Blackfur bristled as Quinn disappeared before her, but she could still smell the Aasimer and her sharp hearing could pick up his footsteps, even if she couldn't pinpoint his exact location. "You may be invisible wingman, but you aren't off the ship yet. You have a foul smell about you...a bird's smell...and I do so love birdies!"
She purred in delight, even though her shining black fur was standing out on end, her tail twice as thick as usual and her ears lying flat against her head. Her pupils were dilated and she was on guard, her claws unsheathed. Her prisoner tearing off the device must have hurt him, because she had never deactivated it. She tapped her own badge. "Blackfur to bridge. The wingman has gone invisible. Have all the squads be on the alert, use infrared to track him. Oh and he smells awful!"
Out of nowhere came a hard punch and Blackfur landed flat on her back, howling in pain. She doubled over as she was kicked, then rolled away, hissing in fury. "Squads report to my location, seal all exits upon entrance. He's cornered and he's mine! Capture him, make him visible somehow, and turn him over! This male is mine...my pet!"
(quinn)
Meanwhile, Peter had returned to the bridge after questioning both the doctor and the academy commandant. Now that his friend had explained he had been sorely misunderstood, he actually had to force himself not to laugh about it. His friend so desperately needed to get out more, and now that he finally had a woman's love, he was on the brink of tearing that apart by being misunderstood. "Counselor, counsel thyself," he murmured, as he reclaimed his station.
He just caught the order for the warp-jump and felt the vibration of the deckplates change under his feet as the Phoenix jumped to warp six. "I still have the ghost on sensors," he reported, then receiving a curt nod from K'Nara, he loaded the torpedo tubes and charged phasers. "Shields online and weapons ready to fire," he reported, before any orders had been voiced. "Let us take these kitties down," he hissed with a, for him, unusual vehemence. "They shall not get away with taking one of our own!"

Naois sat a little stiffly, her tight hug did hurt him but he refused to acknowledge it. He didn't want her to move away from him on his account, and he was indeed perfectly happy to sit like this for a while. His arm rested on her side, while his other arm braced her against falling from the couch. Eventually, he felt her relax beside him, heard her breathing even out when he concentrated on listening for it and he smiled. At last she was asleep even if he was put in a rather discomfortable position.
He tried shifting but her fingers were curled into the fabric of his tunic and shirt and he couldn't move without taking both off. However, he was starting to get increasingly uncomfortable and he doubted she was very comfortable either. Leaning over, he scooped her lithe form up into his arms and carried her to the bedroom. There, he tried prying her fingers from his shirt but he failed. Finally, he just shrugged out of his shirt, then quietly proceeded to take her boots off.
Naois shivered against the cool air in her quarters, even as he pulled up the blanket over her body. He didn't even think of replicating a new shirt, he simply pulled up another blanket and folded it around his shoulders, then lay down on the couch in the livingroom and slowly drifted off into sleep as well. He was exhausted and haunted by the images of his dead and injured crew, abandoned on his nearly destroyed station.

Waking a number of hours later, Valeia was somewhat startled to find herself in her own bed, still in uniform, and hugging Naois’ jacket and shirt. After sitting up and staring in confusion at the jacket for several moments, the doctor eventually slipped out of bed and nearly tripped over her shoes, which were lying neatly side by side on the floor. Smiling slightly, as their orderly placement indicated that Naois had removed her shoes last night, she shuffled towards the living room to see if he was asleep on the couch, which of course he was.
Smiling as she approached him, Valeia’s smile faded as she noticed that Naois didn’t look very comfortable at all and was holding the blanket close to him like he was freezing cold. If she had woken when he’d moved her, she would have asked him to stay with her, so seeing him so clearly uncomfortable most likely out of respect for her was upsetting. As she approached and knelt down beside him, still holding his jacket and shirt, the Betazoid could sense the turmoil of his emotions. He was clearly very upset, like he was having a really bad dream.
Worried now, the doctor carefully touched his face. “Naois…” Valeia murmured softly, startled as he bolted upright in terror abruptly woken from his dream. “Shhhh... It’s ok...It’s just me.” she soothed moving to sit next to him and rubbing his back as he began to calm down and leaned against her. “Sweetheart, what is it?” she asked, holding him close to try and comfort him.

She watched the Ferengi ship idly .. They had been shadowing Beel for some time, ensuring they were alone before de-cloaking .. Oh .. They knew that the Dark Phoenix was on her way, Rakhi had counted on Brahms' sense of honor, or conviction in his pursuit ....
"Open a channel." she said.
"Channel open Mistress." said one of her crew.
=^= Beel .. Disengage your warp drive and come to a halt =^=
Seconds past as she waited, almost patiently, for the Ferengi to comply. a grin formed on her face as she imagined the scene on the other ship ..
=^= Beel ...... =^= she repeated, her tone signifying her annoyance.
The Ferengi vessel dropped from warp. She signaled to follow suit .. As both ships came to a complete stop, Rakhi ordered the cloak to be dropped ..
=^= You people DO have a flair for the dramatic .. Don't you =^= Beel said, as his image appeared on the view-screen. Then he turned to listen as someone off-screen spoke .. His head spun to the front ...
=^= There is a Federation vessel approaching .. What are you playing at making us stop .. We should be getting furth ...... =^=
=^= I am FULLY aware of the ship pursuing us Beel .. Please try not to take me for a fool .... I will be beaming the 'package' you are transporting to my ship shortly .. Before you protest .. Your latinum is here and we will beam that to you at the same time =^=
=^= Our agreement was for us to transpo ...... =^=
=^= Our agreement !!! ... Is now subject to change .. So .. I can simply 'take' my goods .. Or transfer them along with the agreed payment .. Take your time deciding Beel .. You still have forty minutes before the Federation arrive =^=
Rakhi cut the Comms and then sat back to wait ...
"Mistress .. The Federation ship ......"
"I know .. Do not worry .. I will have done what I came here for by the time they arrive .. Have the prisoner readied for transport."
Rakhi grinned, They would succeed this time .......... Please .. Do not attack the ship's on our arrival .. I have something in mind ..

The Phoenix dropped out of warp, Brahms had made sure he was safe before bringing the ship so close ..
"Open a channel." he ordered.
"Which ship Sir ?" the duty Ops Officer asked.
"Both ..."
"Channels open Captain."
=^= This is the Federation Star ship USS Dark Phoenix .. You are ordered to disengage all systems and prepare to be boarded =^=
=^= We are Ferengi traders .. You have no righ ...... =^=
=^= Shut UP Beel .. They are not interested in you .. Arrrre you Captain =^= Rakhi said, then silently signaled for the transport of the weapon, along with the latinum.
=^= We have someone here eager to return to your ship .. Will you allow transport ? =^=
=^= What are you up to Rakhi ? =^= Brahms asked, jumping from his seat to glare at the image on-screen.
=^= Simply retrieving what was mine .. Now .. The Ferengi are inconsequential in this .. So will you allow transport of your Officer .. Or do you 'prefer' he stay with us ...... =^=
"What's their status Peter ?"
"The Ferengi vessel propulsion and weapons are off-line .. The Rakhari vessel has warp drive on-line but not weapons or shields."
"Ok .. Drop our shields .. But .." he raised a hand before anyone could protest, "If either ship attempt to bring weapons on-line .. Fire on them both."
=^= We have dropped our shields Rakhi .. send Lieutenant Dexter back =^=
Several things then happened at once !
"Beam him back to his ship." Rakhi said, grinning at Brahms, then as he de-materialized, "Now .. Lock on to our 'guest' and transport .. Send the detonation code and take us to maximum warp."
Quinn appeared on the Bridge of the Phoenix, but at the same time Brahms was caught in a second transporter beam and vanished .. The Rakhari vessel leapt to warp before the Phoenix could react. Instantaneously, a massive explosion occurred on the Ferengi ship, a device hidden and shielded in the latinum Rakhi sent, destroyed almost a third of the ship .. Their warp core simply couldn't take the amount of stress placed on it, and began to rupture ...
"Get a bearing on the Rakh ......" K'nara yelled, before being thrown to the floor by the blast, "What in the name of Kah ......"
"Commander .. We're getting a message from the Ferengi vessel .. Their core will go critical in two minutes .. There is only thirty seven of them alive over there !"
"If we stay to rescue the Ferengi ..." Tak said, "We will loose the Rakhari .. And the Commodore ......"
The Bridge was deathly quiet .. No-one would ever want to be in a position such as this .. But K'nara knew she had to make a decision ...
"Move us closer .. Begin rescue operations !" she ordered ...
It took less than a second for the crew to react to her order. But in that fraction of a second, they all fully understood that with that one order, they may never see their Captain again ..........

Quinn stood right in front of Blackfur and punched him hard, the Rakhari sent sprawling, staying invisible, Quinn dodged round the cat, aiming kicks and punches while easily avoiding the cats wild swings.
Suddenly Quinn felt him self being transported and found himself on the bridge of the Dark Pheonix, the punch originally being aimed at Blackfurs head narrowly missing D'Brooni. Deactivating his armbrace he started to smile at the others but the atmosphere on the ship stopped him.
"Move us closer .. Begin rescue operations !" K'nara ordered.
"I'll contact the Aasimar and get them to follow the Rakhari." Quinn moved over to his station and started to attempt to contact the other ships.

Sharon watched as the captain disappeared and the Lt. appeared, and then then blast knocked her out of her seat. She got up and checked her board and it was still operational. The commander ordered the ship move closer for evacuation of the ferengi. Sharon kept an eye on he sensors hoping not to lose the rakhari vessel. She turned to look at the assimer and smiled, she was glad to see him back in one piece.
After a few minutes her board beeped that the ferengi vessel was clear of personnel, some had to be beamed directly to sickbay due to injuries most of the others were being taken to the brig.
"Commander, the ferengi vessel is clear of people. hat heading would you like to go in?" Sharon asked.
Sharon had a good idea where but needed to make sure thats what the commander wanted. Sharon lay ed in a course to follow wherever the rakhari vessel went and lay ed in the course and engaged at warp 8. She wanted to talk to the aasimer after the shift was over. Quinn interested her, he was handsome for sure and she wanted to get to know him.

Mel jumped as she felt something swish through the air close to her. Yet she saw nothing until a moment later when Quinn Dexter reappeared and smiled at her.
She fought the urge to hug her friend as K'Nara started barking orders from where she had just fell. Quinn disappeared to one station and Mel seized the opportunity to get to an engineering on. A smile lit her face.
"Maam, happy to report the sensor I attached to the captains badge is giving off a reading," Mel informed the Klingon who had just steadily got to her feet again.
"Once those ferengi are on board I want a word with the Damon immediatly and you," she pointed to Sharon Wolf, " Lay in a course to follow D'BrooNi's beacon but keep your distance until I say otherwise. Melanie are we ready to try the prototype?"
Mel nodded a smile on her face. They had been expecting a return from the Cats since the last encounter. Dukath had let her have the schematics of some highly experimental technology they were hoping would rival Rahki. Unfortunatley they had snatched Quinn before she had had chance to replicate and toy with it.
It should, if it worked let them do 2 beams instantly. The captain out and a charge which if Mel and her team had planned it right knock out several systems much like the dated EMP's did back in the day.
"Aye Maam," Mel replied with a little smile. "However we need to be close enough. You are going to have to get her talking long enough to calibrate it. And we will probably only get one shot, they change the modulating frequencies of their sheilds from what we got off that first scan and we are scuppered."
K'Nara nodded, looked thoughtful for a second then barked,"Mr Quinn, ready room now."
Mel gave Quinn a small smile as he marched past her following the Klingon towering above them.

"Mr Quinn," K'Nara grunted as she rubbed the aching wrist she had fallen on due to the blast earlier. "Report. Have you any idea what they are up too?"
"Not much unfortunately, they never discussed much in front of me, main thing is that the Ferengi ship was transporting something, something highly important to Rahki, something that even she could be bartered with about." They knew that Rahki would not barter with anyone
"Did they torture you?" K'Nara stated wanting to know if despite that they had acted like before. "How did you get away and why are you carrying a personal Aasimer cloak?"
"My escape? Not too much to tell, when they were distracted I ripped off the device they had on me, remember I had been tortured before so the pain was bearable for such short duration, and activated the stealth device which I got from our last encounter with the Rebel Aasimar. I was in the middle of fighting Blackfur when I got beamed out."
K'Nara was both annoyed they had no further info but also impressed at the Aasimer for standing up to blackfur. He had come far in the time she had known him. It was time he was given a chance to shine, especially after enduring Rahki's torture also.
She touched a button on the desk next to her. "Attention all hands, this is the acting captain. Commordore Brahms has been taken by the enemy vessel. We are currently involved in a rescue situation with the ferengi ship. Please note that as of this moment Quinn Dexter will be XO."
Quinn looked at her astonished. K'Nara offered no smile. It was either him or Horn. Mel was too fluttery for her liking and needed in engineering and Horn, well that wasn't going to happen.
The bridge piped through. It was Mel. "Maam we have lost the signal." The Trill sounded just as irritated as she was. K'Nara thumped the desk to get out her frustration then regretted it as she had used the hand she fell on earlier. She chose to growl loudly instead. Nodding at Quinn to get out of his seat they both returned to the bridge.
"Report," she barked.
"We have all the ferengi crew onboard now."
"Lets see if our "guests" she spat can give us some bearings then," K'Nara grunted.
"Mr Quinn you have the bridge. Mr Horn you are with me."

Post by Commander Peter Horn on Oct 4, 2007 20:54:46 GMT
Peter stood just staring at the spot Brahms had just disappeared from. He stood frozen for several long seconds before Sheena nudged him hard between the ribs, pointing at a signal coming from the retreating vessel. Seconds later, the signal was lost.
"Ma'am?" Peter asked, as K'Nara called for him. He had just worked with Sheena on locating the vessel, but they had no luck.
K'Nara didn't give the vulcan a second glance stepping into the turbolift and barking "brig."
Brig? At first Peter didn't understand why he was taken to the brig, but then it dawned on him. The Ferengi they had beamed aboard had quite likely been transported straight to the brig. "I assume you wish to question the Ferengi?"
"Would that NOT be logical?" K'Nara hissed at him irritated.
Peter shook his head. "No ma'am, it would not be. It would be logical for me to question them, when we have taken the ship to safety."
Pete felt a wave of anger from the Klingon women. "They were working with the Enemy Mr Horn. I want to question them before returning to base and hitting bureaucratic tape. Maybe I am paranoid BUT we have a tellerite who was one of us responsible for bombing and now a ship of ferengi suddenly involved. It does not add up."
"It never does ma'am. Nevertheless, I am the security chief and I shall question them before we reach the starbase. You have received my report of the Tellarite's interrogation, something Mr Science was witness to, I might add. You are disdraught over the disappearance of Commodore Brahms, you should not be here to question them. We should leave them ponder their fate for a while, before starting interrogations. If anything, Ferengi are cowards."
K'Nara glared at the vulcan once again and severly considered ordering him back to the bridge. "I am going to question them personally. And NEVER try to anticipate my emotions. I do not get distraught. I AM KLINGON."
"I would not assume to anticipate your emotions," Peter replied flatly, taking a small step back as he sensed her rising fury. "And yes, it is quite obvious you are Klingon, it is rather hard to miss." He raised an eyebrow at his superior officer, knowing she wasn't going to back down. "Very well, interrogate them, but I will stop you if you go too far. You cannot do them bodily harm, if you do so, I will leave you in the cell with them. Understood?"
K'Nara turned and faced the vulcan, probably looking at him straight on for the first time since Connor had died. The fury emmiting from her caused him to take a further step back. "Let me remind you that where I am from, a challenge like that can only be issued and carried out by slitting your CO's throat. You may have finished my husbands life but DO NOT THINK either myself or Kahless would let that occur. If you want you captain back then you are going to have to follow me."
"I will not allow harm to come to the Ferengi," Peter repeated quietly, "and you know I regret having had to kill Connor. You also know I owe you the life-debt I owed Connor, and you also know that I would have avoided killing him if I had been able to." He did regret killing Connor, and he still felt he deserved her wrath. "I am aware of your hatred of me,' he continued, "and I understand." His words seemed to infuriate her even further so he fell silent, following her to the cell that held the Ferengi.
K''Nara walked in and promptly punched who was clearly the DaMon. His hideous jacket clashed with the wall and light quite nastly. K'Nara gave Pete a look then in a split second had the alien squirming and up against the wall. "Mr Horn here is going to question you while I take the ship back to base," she then threw pete another look. "You better answer my security chiefs questions or if you think Rahki was a Pussicat* then your in for a shock if I have to come down again." K'Nara dropped the alien and walzed out.
Peter followed K'Nara out of the cell, positively glaring at her now. "I told you that I would not allow you to harm the Ferengi," he told her, raising himself up to his full height. A split second later, he had punched his acting CO squarely on the jaw. "Hurt them again, and I shall know how to hurt you," he threatened, before turning his back on the Klingon, facing the Ferengi. "If you think you are afraid of her, you might as well start to fear me," he told the cowering creature, "for she is right of one thing. She is far wors than Rahki."
The Klingon phrase that escaped K'Nara's lip as the security chief went flying across the brig and landed next to the stunned ferengi was enough to make anyone blush. "Yes she is far worse than Rahki and it would be wise for you all to remember that. Now Mr Horn quit trying to get back in my good books and do your job."
Peter felt himself being lifted into the air as K'Nara's arms shot out towards him and grabbed him by the waist and shoulder. The next moment, he connected hard with the wall and he slid down to the deck, nursing his already smarting shoulder in a daze. "Yes ma'am," Peter answered numbly, while climbing back to his feet, "and I know better than to attempt to get in your good graces again ma'am. It may take a very long time indeed, for Klingons are good at holding grudges. Please return to the bridge, while I question this vermin."

As they dropped out of warp, Marcus watched both ships intently. He spoke to both vessels and they complied with his request .. 'Unusual in itself' he thought, more alert than ever ..
Establishing that both ships could not do the Phoenix any harm, he nodded silently to Peter ..
=^= We have dropped our shields Rakhi .. Send Lieutenant Dexter back =^=
He watched seconds later, as his Operations Officer began to appear on the Bridge .... He was about to give the order to disable the Rakhari vessels' engines, when he felt the tell-tale grasp of a transporter beam .. His head spun to face K'nara, hoping she would realize what was happening and try to prevent it. But it was too late .. He materialized seconds later on an unfamiliar Bridge, but the occupant of the Command seat was far from unknown ...
He began to step forward, but halted instantly as he almost impaled himself on the claws resting against his trachea ...
"One moment Captain." Rakhi said, then spoke rapidly to her crew ..
"Activate the detonation sequence .. Take us to warp !"
The screen brightened for a few seconds, as a massive explosion ripped through the Ferengi vessel .. Brahms watched the images almost dumb-struck ... Almost one third of the ship was vaporized instantly. The cargo bay, several decks, and a good part of Engineering were destroyed ..
"The Phoenix wont rest unti ......" Brahms began, rage welling up at the needless taking of life, but he was interrupted ..
"The Dark Phoenix will not be following us Captain .. She will be FAR too busy getting whatever survivors there are to safety." Rakhi said, walking slowly toward Brahms, "Ahhhh .. I see you have had a promotion since we last met .. Do forgive my not noticing earlier .. Commodore ?" she finished questioningly.
Marcus didn't bother to answer ..
She placed one claw below his chin, then in a swift movement, drew it down and across to cut a twenty centimeter gash, just breaking the skin .. It also passed through the Comms badge he was wearing, and it dropped to the floor in two pieces ..
"Can't have you being monitored .. Now can we ..." she said, grinning ..
Suddenly, he felt a cold touch on his neck, and heard the hypo .. his vision blurred, and he knew he was loosing the battle for consciousness ...
"We are going to spend som ........" was the last thing Brahms heard as he fell to the deck, blackness enveloping him ..........

"Mr Quinn you have the bridge. Mr Horn you are with me." "Acknowledged." Quinn noticed Sharon look at him then dart her gaze away quickly. "Set a heading for Starbase, we need to restock and get the prisoners off the ship." Quinn gave others various instructions most did not needed to be done but it would keep them busy until they returned. <off to pub, will complete later, sorry >

Post by Naois Mercy on Oct 5, 2007 19:37:45 GMT
Naois bolted upright when she touched him, gasping for air. Wide-eyed, he looked around himself, sure that someone was out chasing him. Yet he only saw Valeia, pulling him towards her while making soothing sounds. The blanket had slipped from his bare shoulders and he shivered. "Where am I?" he wondered aloud, not recognising his surroundings.
"My quarters," Valeia answered softly, while helping him pull on his shirt again, "you fell asleep on my couch."
Grateful for the assistance, Naois let her dress him as he tried to remember what had happened a few hours earlier. He remembered arguing, her yelling at him. "Did you rest well?" he asked, as he stiffly got back to his feet. "I should get to the bridge, I have a feeling I am going to be needed. Will you be all right?"
Naois didn't want to keep hovering around her, even though instinct told him he should. Her rant had made him realise he was too protective of her, too possessive and he needed to give her some space. "If you need me, I will be on the bridge, or in my quarters." He stiffled a yawn and gave her an apologetic smile. "I fear I did not sleep too well. The images of my destroyed station, the many dead...they are haunting me. Do not worry, I will deal with them eventually. After all, I am a counselor. Shall we meet for lunch?"
At her nod, he gave her a kiss then walked out of her quarters, to arrive on a bridge in chaos. "What happened?" he asked no-one in particular.

Naois’ confusion concerned Valeia, even if it was understandable considering the awkward position he had tried to sleep in and his general stress. He was also freezing cold, so the doctor had grabbed the jacket and shirt she had dropped when he’d jumped and helped him dress, noting that his scars appeared to be healing well. However, he still looked completely exhausted.
“Did you rest well?” he asked, even as he stood moving slowly. Before she could reply, he added that he needed to get to the bridge and asked if she’d be alright.
“I did rest well, but I would have slept even better if you’d stayed with me.” Valeia replied smiling shyly and wrapping her arms around his waist. “And my guess is you would have as well, so no more sleeping on couches for you, ok? And I’ll be fine, but please take it easy. I don’t want you to get sick.”
Naois nodded absentmindedly in response, but Valeia wasn’t entirely sure he had even heard anything she said. He seemed distracted, clearly thinking about something else, although the doctor hoped he would get the message and stay with her next time, as she didn’t want to wake up with just his jacket again.
"If you need me, I will be on the bridge or in my quarters." Naois informed her, stifling a yawn and smiling apologetically. "I fear I did not sleep too well. The images of my destroyed station, the many dead...they are haunting me. Do not worry. I will deal with them eventually. After all, I am a counselor. Shall we meet for lunch?"
It was Valeia’s turned to nod absentmindedly, since now she was worried, not only at his lack of sleep but at the stress he must now be feeling with everything that had happened. As a Vulcan, it was most likely second nature for Naois to push his feelings aside and deal with them later, but she hoped that when he did deal with it, he would at least come to her and maybe allow her try and help, especially since he tended to drop everything to hold her when she was upset.
After giving her a quick kiss, he was gone, leaving Valeia frowning in concern at the door as it closed behind him. Fortunately, she didn’t have too much time to worry as her commbadge had chirped. “Doctor Roquel, this is Doctor Keller. We just got more than a dozen new patients.”
Valeia could hear the noise of a very busy sickbay behind the calm voice of the EMH, so she’d tapped her commbadge on her way out the door and replied, “Understood. I’m on my way.” before closing the channel. When it rained, it poured apparently, although the doctor was somewhat grateful for the distraction.
Upon entering sickbay, Valeia found a group of Ferengi being tended to by her medical staff, several were critical. Medical alerts were going off in three different locations, Sianna at one, Donolly, who had either decided he was fine or had been allowed to help at another, and the CMO quickly moved towards the third even as Nurse Gresler called out for her help. It was certainly a stressful start to what was shaping up to be another very long, busy day.

Post by K'nara Corval on Oct 6, 2007 10:43:08 GMT
K'Nara headed back to the bridge fed up of Vulcans, Ferengi, and pretty much every alien race at this point. She was none to pleased to walk back onto the bridge to see Naois Mercy stood there demanding to know what was going on.
"We are currently engaged in a rescue operation Mr Mercy, one which we are handling. If you want to help then go down to the counselling department and see what you can do there. I do not need you under my feet right now," K'Nara snapped making it clear she did not want the man on the bridge.
"Sharon I want you to triangulate any locations that Rahki's ship may of been heading to with what data we had before the beacon was lost. Compile a list of any planets, systems, starbases - anything . . . . . I want locations we can siff down to try get our captain back. See if engineering can get anything from whats left of the ferengi computer core and navigation and incoorporate that data too," K'Nara barked giving the Vulcan another look. He was still on her bridge.
<Sharon>
She gathered all the patience she had left and hit her comm. badge. =^=Bridge to James Kirby. Mr Naois Mercy will be joining you. Please make full use of his credentials. Corval out=^=
"Counselling Mr Mercy," she informed him again her face set. "Thats an order." Finally the man decided to be wise and leave.
<Naois>
K'Nara sat down in the command chair which Quinn had vacated and quickly moved to K'Nara's usual spot. She turned to the Aasimer and said quietly. "I do not like that vulcan. Keep an eye on him. Also can you make sure that the EMH keeps an eye on our CMO I do not want her exhasting herself again."
She hit her comm. badge again. =^=Corval to D'BrooNi. Whats you status.=^=
=^=We have rescued all that we can. The Ferengi warp core is currently stable. The explosion luckily did not damage that or we would of suffered some damage in the blast being so close. Forcefields are in place ensuring the wreckage stays together, we have stopped the majority of the drift. We could tow whats left of the ship back . . . . =^=
=^=Negative, well at this moment. I will speak with starfleet. I would rather we got moving after Rahki and someone else have that honor=^=
=^=Agreed Maam=^= the Trill replied.
"Mr Quinn I will be in the ready room sending a communication to Starfleet Headquarters," K'Nara said getting up again. "Check in with Dr Roquel as to a report on the wounded Ferengi. Also," she moved her wrist slightly. It hurt more having thrown Horn across the brig. Perhaps she had broken a bone."See if she can spare someone to come up and have a look at my wrist and the rest of the bridge crew from that blast."
She made it halfway to the door, "Oh and Quinn can you organise to get Tak Science the Kzinti and the other staff from the starbase sorted with quarters and something to do for those who can be useful right now." The Aasimer nodded realising that XO was somethings not all it was cracked up to be.
<Quinn/Valeia/Tak Science>
K'Nara didn't really need anyone under her feet right now. "Raktajino," she barked at the replicator as soon as she walked in. Computer open a channel to Starfleet HQ."
She grabbed the newly appeared cup and sat down as somebody from HQ appeared on screen in front of her. "Acting Captain Corval of the Dark Phoenix. Request to speak with Admiral O’Shasserra."
She sipped her coffee drumming her fingers annoyed as she waited for the appropiate security clearence, finally the old lady appearing in front of her.
"K'Nara whats happened," she stated, the Klingon pleased at not having to go into formalities. She told her straight. Everything.
"We need people out here to tow the Ferengi vessel and contain the damage on Ressurection. In the meantime, request permission to go after Rahki Maam."

"Computer open a channel to Star fleet HQ." K'nara said, taking a sip of the raktajino, "Acting Captain Corval of the Dark Phoenix .. Requesting to speak with Admiral O’Shasserra." K'nara waited, wondering just how long this was going to take. Then O'Shasserra appeared on the screen .. =^= Commander .. Sorry for the delay .. The Comm has been transfered to the Armstrong .. I'm en-route to Resurrection .. K'nara whats happened ? =^= She went on to explain all that had taken place since Brahms' last communication .. =^= ...... We need people out here to tow the Ferengi vessel and contain the damage on Resurrection .. In the meantime .. We request permission to go after Rahki Ma'am. =^= Polly sat quietly for a second, then seemed to come to a decision .. =^= Commander Corval .. You are hereby appointed Captain of the USS Dark Phoenix .. Effective immediately and open to review as the situation progresses .. Congratulations Captain ..... Now .. As for you going after Rakhi ...... =^= =^= Ma'am .. We have a good cha ...... =^= K'nara began, but was interrupted .. =^= I am denying your request Captain .. There is a bigger picture K'nara .. One we will discuss later .. For now I want you to abandon the Ferengi vessel and make your way to Star base two two eight .. Repairs will be carried out and the Ferengi taken off your ship =^= =^= But .. Admiral .. With ALL due respect .. The Commodore is goi ...... =^= =^= Marcus will have to fend for himself for the moment .. Now .. Carry out my order .. Captain .. O'Shasserra out =^= The screen went blank, then went flying across the room to disintegrate against the bulkhead .. K'nara winced at the pain in her already injured hand ... Calming down, she considered, not for the first time, disobeying the order and going after the Commodore .. But her honor, made the decision for her .. Standing, she re-entered the Bridge ... "Are we ready to depart ?" she asked no-one in particular. "Ready as we'll ever be Commander." said Ensign Wolf .. "I have been appointed Captain of the Phoenix .. Open to review as the situation demands .. Set course for Star base two two eight .. Warp five." "We're not going after the Commodore !" Dexter said, speaking the comment on everyones' lips. "No .. We are 'NOT' going after the Commodore .. Are my instructions not clear enough ?" K'nara said, clearly having difficulty controlling her temper and frustration .. Sharon turned to her station ... "Course laid-in .. Captain." she said, without looking at her CO. The Bridge was totally silent as K'nara took her seat .. She watched the view-screen for almost a full minute, hoping against hope that the Rakhari ship would re-appear .. But no luck .. 'Not that Klingon's believed in luck' she thought wryly. "Engage ..." The Dark Phoenix was going home, well, a home of sorts .. She was also leaving her Captain behind .......... OOC: Continue to post on here while the new mission thread is set up ..

Sharon had moved the ship into towing direction and heard the exec return to the bridge.
"yes ma'am " Sharon replied.
Her fingers moved quickly across the board and made adjustments for possible course and heading of the rakhari ship, then using several points of reference, also known and unknown planets and those that can sustain life, she was able to start her list. She heard the exec leave again.
Sharon found 5 planets i the tau signai system, 2 -planets in beta quad system, one in tek system and two other systems that had yet to be explored. Closest starbases are 227 for Tau signa, 2114 in beta quad and none for tak as well as the two new systems. She heard the exec return. The klingon gave the bad news and Sharon muttered under her breath. "Darn federation politics."
"Course laid in Captain." She said.
She tapped the controls for go to warp as soon as she heard the word engage. She turned around and got up to stretch her back was bothering her a bit, walked over to where the commander sat.
"Commander, heres that list you asked for." Sharon said handing the padd over and returned to her seat.
Sharon yawned slightly and watched her board and went back over what she had done in case she had missed anything.

OOC: Post as DaiMon Beel ..
IC:
He watched, both amused and somewhat disgusted, as the two Federation Officers openly brawled .. It just strengthened his opinion that they were no better than opportunities, opportunities to both take advantage of and make financial gain ..
The Klingon phrase that escaped K'Nara's lip as the security chief went flying across the brig and landed next to the stunned Ferengi was enough to make anyone blush.
"Now .. Mr Horn stop trying to get back in my good books and do your job !"
"Yes ma'am." Peter answered numbly, while climbing back to his feet, "I know better than to attempt to get in your good graces again .. It may take a very long time indeed .. For Klingon's are good at holding grudges .. Please return to the bridge while I question this vermin."
As Peter turned, Beel stepped forward, almost toe to toe with the Vulcan Security Chief ..
"VERMIN .. You .. Brawling like wild animals .. Have the nerve to call our race VERMIN !"
Peter's hand came up and securely grasped the Ferengi by the throat .. He walked slowly and deliberately forward, forcing Beel toward the rear of the cell .. The other Ferengi cowered away from what was happening ..
"You ......" DaiMon Beel struggled to speak, "Will .. get .. NOTHING from .. Us .. Federation !"
"Oh ?" horn said, seeming to find the statement a point of amusement.
He threw the Ferengi to the wall and turned away, walking almost out of the cell before turning .. He gave each of the Ferengi a look of distaste .. Not something any Vulcan would normally do, but he was not in the best of moods at the moment. His public brawl with K'nara had greatly diminished his standing as far as the Ferengi were concerned, he could see it through the fear on their faces ..
Beel was regaining his composure .. He feared what the Vulcan could do to him, but he also feared loosing face with his own crew .. He stared at Horn, seemingly thinking of what to say, but he was waiting for the right moment, and Peter gave him that moment by stepping forward ..
"So ..." Beel said instantly, smiling knowingly at his crew before looking back at the Vulcan, "As i have said before .. We have no knowledge of the Cats' plans .. But we do have small portions of 'information' that could be useful to you .. I think we should negotiate a fee for this information."
As Beel had started to speak, Horn had stopped advancing, but now, with a cold look in his eye, he moved forward once again ..........

"You...would negotiate a fee?" Peter's voice was low and dangerous as he inched forward to the cowering Ferengi. He carefully rolled his smarting shoulders as he towered over the alien. "You are in no condition to negotiate anything vermin," he snarled angrily, "and I am the one in control. If you think Commander Corval or Rahki were bad.."
Peter paused for effect and saw the fear in the Ferengi's eyes. He leaned down in front of them, leaning his arms on his knees. "Now, what was your deal with the Rakhari. You may wish to note that my commanding officer has no patience for cowards like you, or even for the likes of me. She will have no qualms about killing you. Now, if you tell me what I need to know, without having to retrieve it myself, I may be able to protect you from her."
He paused again as he rose to his feet and turned to the second Ferengi. "Your friends in sickbay, I am certain that they are not in as much medical need as may be their appearance. Their suffering is in your hands." The Vulcan turned his back on the two Ferengi and started to walk away, very slowly. Halting his pace, he half turned to glare at them. "Such cowardice. My chief would have taken the oppotunity to kill me if she were in your place. Ferengi indeed are cowards," he spat, before rounding on the nearest Ferengi, slamming him against the wall.
The creature squealed in fright as Peter brought his face close to his. Peter could sense it's terror without effort and it made him feel ill. "Tell. Me. What. I. Need. To. Know." he said slowly, emphasizing each word.

Post by Mel D'BrooNi on Oct 8, 2007 21:54:09 GMT
Mel groaned as the sonic shower hummed gently. She was as fed up as K'Nara. They had been ordered back to base, now steadily cruising at warp 7. The Ferengi ship having been left behind, the Captain was missing and since Rahki had in her guess sussed out the device she had placed in his comm. badge, they had no starting place.
Since Valeia had exhasted herself K'Nara had put her foot down and enforced that no one was to work more than a double shift without rest. Mel had reached that limit and if the rumours from the bridge of the Klingons temper since being ordered back to base were true, Mel had decided not to try wriggle out of it. Well that and the fact she knew Brooks was still not 100% so there was no chance of him coming into engineering, throwing her over his shoulder dragging her away. Mel giggled, then scolded herself, then found she was laughing. The poor doc. She wondered if she had to taken the line of it being hopelessly romantic or incredibly funny or something else.
Unfortunately 30 minutes later, one fed cairn and an un-won battle with her hair, she had lost the nerve to ask Valeia as she wandered into sickbay. This place was beginning to be her second home lately. She spotted Ian helping out interviewing some ferengi from the rescue. He didn't look best pleased. Rumors were abound that Horn was interogated some of the ferengi crew in the bridge. More rumours were abound that Horn had punched K'Nara and in turn she thrown him to the end of the brig. That was laughable but it meant one thing. The ferengi knew something. They had too.
She had been originally heading for the new doc or Sianna to plead a case for Ian's release - she knew he was crazy stuck here but didn't quite make it.
"I know you," she stopped at one of the injured ferengi on a biobed.
"Perhaps," he shot back miserably.
"Yes I do. You were at my friend Bok's wedding," Mel stated looking the alien over more throughly.
"To a human. A clothed human woman. First he joins starfleet and then marries a human," the creature spat.
Mel rolled her eyes. "Yes but he spent plenty of Latinum on the wedding. You can't argue that."
"His only saving grace," he muttered. "Lets hope he is wise enough to only let the women have his lobes and not get her hands on the latinum."
Mel was actually speechless for a few seconds at his rudeness to her friends.
"Boks wedding," Mel said again finding her voice once more. "Bok's cousin." He was coming back to her now.
"You had less clothes," the Ferengi told Mel. "You looked better."
Mel flushed in embrassment, then found herself laughing slightly as she remembered how Bok had been when they had first met. The alien was just being well . . . Ferengi.
"How did you end up out here. Didn't you owe a Taylor shop?" she asked remembering Bok briefing her on his family before the wedding.
"There was more profit offered to follow DaMon Beek," Bok's cousin replied lifting his head higher. Inwardly Mel sighed. Ferengi pride and profit. This was interesting though, maybe even helpful.
Mel smiled at him and sat down next to the alien on the biobed. "You know one of my hosts used to love giving ear rubs, I bet your very stressed right now, after all you have been through" Mel purred.
It got the reaction she wanted, the alien lowered his defences thinking he was in with a chance of some oo-mox. His eyes wide, he gave her a toothy grin. Typical Ferengi Leiko spat in her head.
"I bet the last job was a latimum goldmine," Mel appealed to his ego some more.
"Well the riskier the road, the greater the profit," he quoted one of the rules of Aquisicusion.
"So there was a great deal of risk involved," Mel asked deciding to let Leiko and her talents take over somewhat reaching out for his earlobes. This creature in reality made her stomach hurl, despite the fact he was related to her best friend.
He made the usual groaning sounds. A Ferengi could be so predictable. A little while later she knew they had been carrying something for Rahki. Something important. Something the Cat had needed to be smuggled and something worth a lot of Latinum.
They should of send a load of female officers in to the brig not Horn she mused.

Sharon was not happy but could do nothing about it. Her relief showed, Ensign McGwire, taking her place as she got up. He was just a little early and she was happy about that. Just before she left the bridge. she walked over to where Quinn was, when he noticed her she smiled.
"I was wondering if you would like to meet in the mess hall and have dinner together?" She asked.
She left after receiving his answer, headed down to her quarters, entered and fell onto the couch with a breath. She took off her boots and walked into her bedroom, got undressed and took a shower.
She finished her shower, dried her hair and put on a Little perfume before dressing in a blue dress. She put on heels and left, heading down the corridor, entered the turboift and headed down to the mess hall. She got off on the deck and walked down to the mess hall and entered. She found a empty table and took a seat, she had grabbed a padd before leaving, it was one of her reading padds. She sat down and read waiting for Quinn to show.

Quinn listened to K'Naras commands, then quickly headed off to Sickbay before K'Nara could give him any more orders, even though he could just request them via commbadge.
Arriving in sickbay, Quinn noticed that they were rather busy with all the Ferengi and some of those who had been knocked about by the explosion of the other ship.
"Sorry to interupt your work Valeia, but K'Nara requests a report on the wounded Ferengi, and also if you could spare someone to go check on her wrist, shes in the ready room, they can check on the others on the bridge at the same time."
<Valeia>
"Thanks, you know how K'Nara can get." Quinn grinned. Quinn then headed off to go sort out quarters for all the extra people they had picked up. When he was finally done he headed back to the bridge, apon entering, he was caught by Ensign Wolf.
"I was wondering if you would like to meet in the mess hall and have dinner together?" She asked.
Quinn was caught be suprise, where he was from women did not ask the men to dinner, and it was a human woman asking him. He regained himself quickly and replied.
"Sure, I just need to go and report to K'nara and my shift is over, ill join you after ive been to my quarters to freshen up." Sharon looked extremely pleased at his response and left. Walking over to K'Nara he gave her the report from sickbay and told her that there was a medic coming up to see to her wrist in a minute.
After talking with K'Nara he headed back to his quarters and washed and changed before heading to the mess hall. Having heard rumours that human women did not rush when it came to getting ready, he was suprised again to see that Wolf was waiting for him, sat on a table by herself near the window showing the stars.
"Hey, sorry to keep you waiting, anything interesting?" He asked indicating the pad she was reading.

Sharon had not been waiting long when Quinn approached.
"Hey, sorry to keep you waiting, anything interesting?" He asked indicating the pad she was reading.
"Hi, no just got here myself. This, is one of my favorite writers Isaac Asimov, this is the martian Chronicles, one of my all time favorite stories." She said with a smile.
She liked him because he was nice and cute. His voice had a soothing sound to it. She sat and listened to him and they got up to get their food. Sharon liked a salad and rarely ate meat, if she did it was usually baked chicken or fish. She kept her weight under control, but occasionally dived into a piece of carrot cake or chocolate depending on her mood but today she chose a salad and a bowl of chicken noodle soup.
They returned to the table and took their seats, he asked her about where she was from.
"I'm from Atlanta Georgia on Earth, i have 2 sisters and one brother all in starfleet, I'm next to the youngest. I learned to fly from my father, he took me out when he had a chance in starfleet shuttles, so flying is second nature to me." She said.
She listened to him tell of his homeworld and his people. He was quite interesting and his people she had not heard of. She would file the information away for later to look up and learn about.

"Ahh, unfortunately ive never heard of the author myself, I'll have to look him up, to be honest I havnt had much chance to read sine joining Starfleet. Shall we go and choose what to eat? I'm rather hungry" Quinn grinned.
Quinn chose pizza for himself, noting that Sharon went for quite a light meal, obviously she liked to keep herself in shape, though with their jobs it was an extremely rare occurance for anyone to get fat.
"Something I discovered while in training, havn't been able to stay away from them since." Quinn said when he noticed her suprise at his choice and grinned again. As they sat back down, he asked about where she was from.
"I'm from Atlanta Georgia on Earth, i have 2 sisters and one brother all in starfleet, I'm next to the youngest. I learned to fly from my father, he took me out when he had a chance in starfleet shuttles, so flying is second nature to me." She said.
"I have two younger sisters myself, both in education back on Aaranoch. Like you, I learnt from my father, he was also a warrior, though until recently had never left Aaranoch, it was thanks to him that I was able to join Starfleet." He went on to tell her with pride about his fathers winning of a martial tournament, which had allowed them to send Quinn to join Starfleet. "I still owe him immensely, though he will never accept that after I saved him and the rest of my family." Quinn explained about what had happened in their second mission aboard the Dark Pheonix and how he had duelled and beaten his training master who had been aboard the ship.
Sharon looked impressed, and then worried. "What about the rest of the Rebel Aasimar, are they still out there?"
"I would expect so, they received quite a boost by gaining most of the Rakhari vessels, but that is a matter for another day." Quinn changed the subject to something a bit more pleasant. "You seem to enjoy flying alot, I've had to pilot a couple of times, but its not something I relish, maybe I should get you to give me a few lessons in the holodeck sometime."

Post by Dr. Valeia Roquel Mercy on Oct 10, 2007 6:13:51 GMT
It had been a rather hectic first few hours of the shift with several emergencies that had required quick thinking. Doctor Roquel had almost lost one patient but had managed to keep him stabilized long enough to repair the damage. Though normally Valeia would have demanded continued rest, Donolly’s assistance had been invaluable, though as soon as things quieted down, he would need to rest. The situation was just beginning to stabilize when Quinn had gotten her attention.
"Sorry to interrupt your work, Valeia, but K'Nara requests a report on the wounded Ferengi, and also if you could spare someone to go check on her wrist, she’s in the ready room. They can check on the others on the bridge at the same time." he informed her.
There were a few more things Valeia needed to take care of, but she wanted to deal with the XO herself. “Thanks for letting me know, Lieutenant. I’ll be up myself in a few minutes…wouldn’t be fair to send someone else.” the doctor added with a wry grin, which Quinn returned.
"Thanks, you know how K'Nara can get." he replied before leaving sickbay. Valeia did indeed know how K’Nara could get. As much as it would have been easier to let someone else take care of the Klingon officer, Doctor Roquel felt it important to show the Commander that she was good at what she did and capable of doing her job, and that she had clearly gotten some rest. She didn’t want to stay on the bad side of the acting CO forever.
Approaching Sianna, Valeia pulled her aside for a moment. “I’m heading up to the bridge to treat the XO. Hopefully it won’t take too long.” Motioning towards Mel, who was speaking with a Ferengi patient, Roquel added, “She’s probably here to see if Ian can be released. If his scan is as expected, you can release him, but tell him I want to see him back here in twelve hours. Make sure Mel knows to keep an eye on him, just in case. Not that she should have a problem with that.”
After the EMH nodded, Valeia approached Donolly, who saw her coming and did not look pleased at the thought of being relieved. Grinning at his displeasure, Roquel commented, “Don’t look so thrilled to see me. How are you feeling?”
“Fine.” the older doctor responded gruffly, causing Valeia to sigh.
“Look, I wanted to thank you for your assistance. You did good work, and I appreciate it. The situation is winding down, so you will need to get some more rest soon.” Holding up her hand to keep him from interrupting, Valeia continued. “However, I realize that you have several patients who are under your care. You may continue to treat them, but I expect you to be careful and inform either myself or Doctor Keller if you begin to feel unwell. I’ll be much more likely to allow you to help if you’re honest about your condition.”
Nodding in understanding, Donolly smiled slightly at her. “Thanks…I appreciate that. I will admit my back is hurting a bit, but it’s nothing that wouldn’t clear up with a dose of Terakine. I am making sure to limit my movement as well as keeping an eye on my injuries to make sure it’s not being aggravated.”
Picking up a tricorder and quickly scanning her fellow doctor, Valeia nodded in agreement and retrieved the necessary dose of analgesic. “I agree. As long as you’re careful, I see no need to relieve you of duty just yet. Just keep being careful.” she ordered as she injected Donolly with the pain medication.
“Yes, Ma’am.” he replied, grinning slightly, as he moved off to check on one of his patients. Smiling and shaking her head, Valeia retrieved a med-kit and left for the bridge. Most of the officers on duty were alright, with a few minor cuts and bruises, which were treated within a few minutes. There was no sign of Naois anywhere, though she thought maybe he was speaking with K’Nara in the ready room. She almost hoped he wasn’t for his sake…
Signaling for entrance, which was granted a few seconds later, Valeia entered the ready room to find only K’Nara sitting behind the desk. “I’ve treated the bridge crew, only minor injuries. That only leaves you.” the doctor informed her, carefully keeping her tone as neutral and professional as possible. The Klingon appeared to be glaring at her, but then again, maybe that was her normal expression.
As K’Nara wordlessly held out her wrist, Valeia ran her tricorder over it. There were a few broken bones and some inflammation. The scans clearly indicated that not only was most of the damage at least a few hours old, but also that more damage had been caused several hours after the original injury. Deciding to forgo the usual lecture about coming to sickbay immediately, at least for now, the doctor decided instead to report on the Ferengi while treating the wrist.
“We treated over a dozen injured, five serious. At the moment, everyone is stabilized. I’ve instructed my staff to keep everyone in sickbay until you decide what you want to do with those well enough to be released. The more serious patients may need to stay for as long as a few days to fully recover.”
The wrist was healed, though there was some residual swelling. Reaching for a hypospray containing a combination of analgesic and anti-inflammatory, Valeia added. “Your wrist is healed, though it may be sore for a day or two. Next time, try to get treated sooner or it will only increase the damage. Two more bones ended up broken because…”
The doctor stopped mid motion, the hypospray halfway to the Klingon’s neck. Valeia had just noticed the slight swelling and the bruise beginning to show through on the first officer’s face. As she looked closer, it was clear to Doctor Roquel what had caused the bruise. “Commander, what happened? Who hit you?”

K'Nara actually cracked a smile. "Hit me. You call this a proper hit. I have had pain sticks inflict worse at parties."
The doctor predictably gaped at her then moved as if going to do something to her face. K'Nara stopped her.
"Leave it. Pain furthers ones journey," K'Nara informed her.
The doc decided against it, lowering her hand again. The XO had requested her wrist be looked at but not her face.
"I need full use of my hand," K'Nara informed her as the doc looked confused as to her allowing one injury to be healed and not another. "However you may wish to check over Mr Horn next." That was all K'Nara gave her and it was enough for Valeia to know all was not well between the security chief and current commanding officer.
"Join me doctor. I have yet to eat," K'Nara instructed her much to Valeia's suprise. The Klingon moved forth and replicated a large plate of some sort of Gagh and another moving dish. The indicated it to ask what the doctor would like.
<Valeia>
Settling down K'Nara speared one of the moving parts of food, Valeia hearing it actually groan as she watched the Klingon bite into it, her sharp teeth flashing.
"Do the Ferengi show any signs of being tortured?" she asked the doctor now nursing her drink and looking as if her dinner was turning her stomach.
<Valeia>
Have you heard them say anything that may be important or of use to us in locating the Captain?" K'Nara asked next mulling over her answer.
<Valeia>
"Humm, we are currently being sucked in to some red tape. I hate federation red tape. Its time consuming and its normally a waste of time or its to keep someone from doing something. Though I know the Admiral is merely a pawn in the game, they will try draw this out. Also we have until we reach the station to get something of use out of the ferengi before they will be taken away from us. They do know something but unfortunately for us and luckily for them someone else is pulling strings here."
K'Nara hoped that the doctor caught her drift in informing her of this. She needed her to try keep hold of the Ferengi for as long as they had to work on them and in K'Nara's head - in the middle of a Federation setting that would only be a decent medical reason. As she could not proceed in her natural Klingon manner then she intended to, if she could, fight red tape with red tape.
She finished her meal, dabbing her mouth with a napkin. On a bird of prey this would not be necessary - a sleeve would of sufficed but among Federation she was fast learning some decorum. Connor had taught her some things which helped put people more at ease with her.
There were times she was more than happy to scare her staff and have them quibble in fear before her but other times different tactics worked. Those senior crew she needed to have a different balance than the rest due to the amount of time she spent with them.
"Anything more on the alien Mr Science claims was responsible for the attacks on the station?" K'Nara asked her next. "Has he fully recovered?"
<Valeia>
She relaxed back slightly and gulped down the last of her drink thoughtfully. Then asked another question they no doubt the doctor would not like, seeing it as interfering or her taking some sort of how did humans put it . . . . a dig but her "intelligence history" would not allow her to miss out the opportunity, especially as she did not trust the Vulcan.
"Valeia," K'Nara asked, the use of her first name indicating she hoped, that she wanted to keep this completely between the two of them. K'Nara just hoped it wasn't going to end in alot of mush from the doctor as their conversation before when she had insisted on trying to defend the vulcan.
"What can you tell me about Naois Mercy?"
<Valeia>
